Skinstitut L-Lactic Body Wash - The Secret to Stunning Sensitive Skin.

I never use to give my body the care and attention it deserves, well not to the same degree that I care for my face.  :-S  For most of my life, my poor old body was neglected and didn’t get pampered at all, other than being regularly cleansed with soap, EEK!   :-O  Soap, d’oh.... that is almost a dirty word these days,  #-o  yet, prior to converting to a body wash, soap was all I ever used.  :">  [-X   Years on, after discovering the remarkable benefits of incorporating AHA’s (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) into my body care regime, I have never looked back.  #:-S   I seriously doubt that I would ever manage to get through a tropical Far North Queensland summer again without my trusty AHA body wash.

Initially, when I was introduced to AHA’s, I was using a Glycolic Acid infused body wash, however because I am blessed with sensitive skin, at times, my skin gets all irritable, (usually after shaving) so I have to avoid Glycolic Acid coz it just exasperates the problem.  :-< I was recommended this Skinstitut L-Lactic Body Wash (featured previously  in my Top 10 Favourite Products) a couple of years ago, when it was first launched, by the Darren, one of the incredibly knowledgeable and extremely helpful skin care therapist’s from the Facial Company.  He suggested the gentle Lactic Acid based formula would be more friendly and appropriate for my temperamental skin type, so I checked it out and decided it might be exactly what I needed.  B-)

The good thing about Lactic Acid as apposed to Glycolic Acid is that Lactic Acid is naturally found in our skin anyway, so it’s suggested to be the most gentle of all AHA’s.  It is just as effective as the harsher Glycolic Acid when it comes to sloughing away dead, dulling skin cells and stimulating the natural cell turnover process. It also decongests pores and it helps increase the hydration levels of the skin to promote a firmer, smoother texture.  :)

As per its claims, I have found the Skinstitut L-Lactic Body Wash to be completely non-irritating, so even when my skin IS inflamed, I can still confidently cleanse my body, knowing it won’t aggravate the condition.  Surprisingly, it’s actually ideal for reducing the symptoms of angry, red skin and is evidently proposed as being suitable for even the most sensitive types.  It is certainly my best defense in avoiding the dreaded itchy, red rash, razor bumps and ingrown hairs that I would frequently experience, thereafter shaving my legs.  Blocked or obstructed hair follicles can wind up getting infected, hence these problems arise,  :-L  however, with regular use of an exfoliating body wash, my pores and hair follicles are kept clear and unrestricted to allow the regrowth to come through easily, avoiding any irritation.  =D>

The body wash dispensed straight from the bottle
Another bonus is that the addition of AHA’s to the normal cleansing routine, will annihilate the rotten summer sweat pimples, (belonging to the acne vulgaris family) often referred to as ‘bacne’, which usually appears on the back, upper arms and buttocks.  :-/   These zits or pimples, (which tend to resemble mini volcanos at times  :(  ) unfortunately, breakout over the body during the hotter, more humid months of the year as our sweat glands become more overactive.  ~X(   Washing with the Skinstitut L-Lactic Body Wash helps clean the pores of any dead skin, oil or bacteria that clog up in the pores when we sweat.  Therefore, as a result, these pimples are no more!   \:D/

I also find the price amazing, at only $36 for a whopping 375ml.  It’s presented in a pump-action bottle featuring the typical Skinstitut packaging, with the white, purple and silver/pewter design and logo.  It is a clear, amber coloured, gel-based formulation with a runny fluid-like consistency.  I am ultra partial to the lovely fresh, clean, mildly citrus scent that is ever so delicate and not at all offensive.  :x  Just one pump of the liquid distributed onto my shower puff is ample to work into a rich, luxurious lather that will wash and exfoliate my entire body with no effort at all. ;)

Lathers into a rich, creamy foam when used with my shower puff
It rinses off easily without leaving any greasy residue.  Instantly, my skin feels super smooth and soft like silk to touch.  It’s totally non-drying, delivering extra moisture to my skin, leaving it adequately hydrated and perfectly balanced for optimum skin health.  Since I started washing with the Skinstitut L-Lactic Body Wash, my skin has taken on a naturally radiant, healthy-looking glow, which makes a nice change to its previously dull, sallow, often scaly appearance.  :D

This is the first, and only, Lactic Acid body wash I have experienced myself and In my opinion I highly doubt if there were similar products available, I would find a better, more affordable treatment body wash than this.  I would say it's supreme; absolutely flawless.  (*)  I basically use it every other day or on a daily basis during the warmer months when I need to shower at least twice a day, sometimes more.  I would highly recommend it, especially for anyone with sensitive skin issues that wants to indulge in the benefits of a using a chemical body exfoliator but generally finds most AHA products are too harsh and end up upsetting your skin.  Well, you needn't miss out on the positives any more, the Skinstitut L-Lactic Body Wash is the answer to all your prayers.  [-O<   Woot, Woot, Sensitive Skinned Beauties Rejoice!!!   <:-P  <:-P

All images in this post are my own other than the first generic product image above that I cropped to correspond with my layout.  I did that because my own photo ended up quite blurry and I couldn't be bothered to go through the rigmarole of re-capturing, uploading and editing just for one image, LOL   :))  Please forgive me, hehe. ;))  :)>-

Top 10 Award – My favourite products!

Top 10 Award, What the???  :-/ That’s exactly what I thought when I heard I was nominated by not one but two of my fellow bloggers to participate in a blogging game of 'Tag, Your IT'!  Well I guess I am now IT, so it’s my turn to play!!  I feel quite honoured to have received the nomination really coz its super nice to be included in something like this, especially since my blog is so new and I am still taking baby steps while I learn the ropes.   ;;)  :)

The rules of the Top 10 Award are:

  1. You must link back to the blogger (or bloggers in my case) who nominated you.
  2. You must then list your Top 10 favourite products.
  3. Finally, you need to then nominate 10 other bloggers to receive this modest but impressive award.

I was nominated by the lovely Sarah at The Science of Beauty and my good friend Su from My Perfume Diaries (Thanks Chicky Babe’s, I appreciate you guys thinking of me ;) ).  Everyone simply MUST check out their blogs! Sarah from The Science of Beauty is a scientist by trade and loves anything to do with beauty.  She likes to chat about beauty products and backs it up with scientific research, which makes for a really interesting read. (*)  Su from My Perfume Diaries, on the other hand, is just another girl who can't stop talking about perfumes.  However, she has a nose like no other and a unique way with words, tempting her readers with an array of gorgeous fragrances and other beauty stuff.  Her blog is unique and unlike most blogs; it’s very entertaining and will keep you very amused. (*)

Anyway, I thought this Top 10 Award would be a fun way to embrace the Blogger community while giving me the opportunity to share the love around a bit. :x   It was no easy feat narrowing down my favourite products to only 10 and am still umming and ahhing about  my final selection, which I might add has already been changed countless times already, hehe. ;))  Well before I can change my mind again, lets get the ball rolling once and for all.   :-j
Presenting to you…..

My Top 10 Favourite Products!

I love this amazing AHA body wash because it keeps my skin in tip-top condition.  I never bothered to care too much for the skin on my body, but after investing in a quality body wash I soon discovered how beneficial it was.  Infused with Lactic Acid, a chemical exfoliant, this body wash gently sloughs away dead skin cells every time I wash.   It leaves my skin smoother, softer and more radiant.  It also keeps the hair follicles clear and unclogged so that I don’t develop any nasty ingrowns or rashes from shaving.

Everyone needs a decent cleanser and this is 'the one' for me.  I have already reviewed this cleanser in detail in my Cleansing post, however in just a few words:  This is my ‘Holy Grail’ cleanser; powerful enough to remove excess dirt, oil and any impurities from my skin, but gentle and kind enough for my sensitive skin.  A deep pore cleanser that keeps my pores free of gunk and keeps those pesky blackheads at bay.

This cleansing tool is a product I have also reviewed more thoroughly in my Cleansing post.  This little gizmo is the ‘Ant’s Pants’ of all beauty gadgets and is one that I would be reluctant to ever part with.  It compliments my anti-ageing skin care regime and provides me with a multitude of benefits, including a smoother, softer, exceptionally clearer complexion, just to name a few.

I recently blogged all about this product in my VitaminTherapy – Topical Vitamin A post.  My ultimate skin care savior (yes another Holy Grail, LOL :)) )that stands heads above ALL other beauty treatments I have tried in the name of anti-ageing.  It’s a fraction of the price of its OTT (over the counter) cousins and is also heaps more potent.  This is the be all and end all in the war against skin ageing and as long as I have this product on my side, it’s a war I plan to win.

A new found favourite! (Where has this moisturiser been all my life?? :P ) Reviewed in my Moisturising post recently, this gel spells perfection for my oily skin.  Finding a moisturiser that isn't so heavy it feels like its suffocating my skin or doesn’t sweat off in the heat is normally a nightmare for me.  This ultra lightweight gel is worth its weight in gold and is EVERYTHING I want in a daily moisturiser.  Oily skinned beauties rejoice!!!  \:D/

This lip treatment might be expensive compared to other lip treatments but it is an investment into more youthful lips.  I adore the delectable sweet fruity scent that always tempts me to go back back for more.  It immediately nourishes my lips and leaves them soft, plump and shiny.  It has taken years off my pout and regular use ensures they stay younger and healthier.  My lips have never looked or felt better.

I was tossing up if I should include this in my top 10 or not, since discovering recently that it in fact has a few nasties in the ingredients list :-O  However, despite the fact, I have never had any complaints since I started using it 3 years ago and in fact I have not found a better sun protection product than this. :) It is ideal for the tropical North Queensland summer, providing my skin with the highest level of sun protection in a multi-tasking formula that has good coverage (for a tinted moisturiser) and a nice colour with a matte finish. It doesn’t clog my pores and maintains adequate hydration as well.  I will always use this until something better comes along and to date I have just not found anything as good.

I have a few of these because they are definitely the nicest coloured eyeliners I have personally used.  They are rich in colour and super vibrant on my waterline and the colour lasts for longer than most others do.  The pencils are incredibly soft and creamy allowing them to glide on with ease and they don’t smudge at all so they don’t wind up all over my face.  Available in a spectrum of colours, these eyeliners are extremely cheap and in my opinion much better than many other eyeliners that are twice the price.

These cute little tubes of highly pigmented lip colour are unique and innovative. It looks like gloss but it actually resembles something similar to paint for your lips.  I guess they are like paint in many ways, because you can mix the various shades together to create endless new hues so they are ideal if you have a creative spark.  While they might look like paint, the texture is in fact super lightweight and drenches my lips in opaque colour that stays put for hours, eventually creating a long lasting stain.  The tube might seem tiny, but believe me when I say one tube will probably last you an eternity, hehe. ;)) You need only a pin-sized amount per application…if that, haha. :)) A teeny weeny, itty bitty product that packs one enormous, almighty big punch!!

I can’t live without my tweezers, LOL. :)) These are probably the most used product in my whole beauty kit. ;) When I first saw these with the light I thought, here we go another gimmick, why on earth would you need a light?? 8-| BUT...after discovering just how much I was missing with normal tweezers I changed my opinion quick smart. :"> Not only is the light extremely helpful and makes a HUGE difference visibility wise, these tweezers also have awesome precision and can grasp onto even the finest little hairs so that nothing ever gets left behind.

So, there you have it!  That is my list for now, but we all know it will probably change again soon enough, LOL.  But, hey, that is just me and the joys of being an over obsessed product loving junkie, hehe.  ;))

Now for the blogs I would like to nominate.  These are all blogs that I follow personally and deem worthy of a recommendation. So, if you are not already following these blogs then I encourage you to click on the link and check them out, you won’t be disappointed.

Sorry if I have tagged a blog that has already been nominated and you have participated before, if that’s the case I would love it if you could comment below and share your link so we can check out your Top 10 too. If I didn’t mention your blog, it’s certainly not because I don’t love it, of course I do, LOL :))  I just tried to pick blogs that I thought may not have already been nominated, or those who could do with a little bit of extra love. :x  Everyone please feel free to join in with this, because even if you don’t have a blog or if it's not really your thing, I would still LOVE to know what you personally like.  What are your Top 10 favourite products? Please share! xxx

Dove Triple Moisturising Deeply Nourishing Body Wash

OK well I know I was only supposed to briefly pause from my series of Serious Skin Care blogs with one interlude, featuring my summary of Innoxa Lipsticks, buuuuuut..... umm, actually I am going to rudely interupt once again and post my review for the Dove Triple Moisturising Deeply Nourishing Body Wash (lucky its my blog so I can get away with being so bold, LOL :D ).  I had to submit a review for this body wash today anyhow, so I thought I might as well share my account via my blog as well, considering it goes hand in hand with 'Everything Beautyful' that this blog relates to.  ;)

I am extremely partial to bath and shower care products and am forever eager to try something new, so when my all-time favourite beauty website, appropriately named, Beauty Heaven sent me the Dove Triple Moisturising Deeply Nourishing Body Wash, to review for their trial team, (of which I am a longstanding, devoted member) I must admit I was pretty chuffed and keen to put it to the test.  Dove has claimed that the soap free, body wash, featuring a breakthrough blend of moisturisers with skin-natural lipids, called NutrimMoisture, penetrates deep within the skin’s surface to nourish from the inside and maintain skin that is beautiful and healthy inside and out.  I am not sure how those claims stack up, to be honest, as I have only been using this body wash for just under a week, but what I can say, is that I personally love it and I will explain to you now, why I'm so impressed :)

The body wash is presented in a 375ml white sturdy, plastic bottle, with the Dove signature blue and gold logo, that streamlines toward the top, where the flip-top lid is located.  The teardrop shape of the bottle makes it easy to hold, while the durable lid clicks shut tight, so it doesn’t spill if it accidentally happens to slip out of your grasp when showering.  Upon opening the bottle, the first thing that I noticed was the delectable aroma that filled the room, reminding me of a delicious dessert.  This fragrance is a bit hard to describe, somewhat vanilla, somewhat cocoa butter with a hint of something floral, not sure exactly, but it is very tropical and absolutely divine!  My son who was in the bathroom with me at the time, asked, “What is that yummy smell”?  I knew then and there, that this body wash was not going to be one I could just indulge in alone, because my two little ‘rug rats’ wanted to get in on the act too, hehe and with a scent so enticing, it really isn’t any wonder. ;) I also ought to mention, that the dreamy fragrance lingers in the bathroom and on my skin for hours afterward, leaving everything smelling so, so scrumptious. :x

The thick white lotion on my shower puff.
The consistency of the body wash was surprising at first, as it was much thicker than any body wash I have previously tried, and very white in colour, looking more like my kid’s vanilla yogurt than a body wash, LOL. :))  It is, however, rich and very creamy, so that when I apply it using my standard shower puff (a staple in my body cleansing routine), it glides smoothly over my skin and feels ultra luxurious.  It’s remarkably similar to the texture of a body lotion and during the cleansing process, my skin seems to just drink it all up, so it appears to absorb right in.  Using my shower puff, it easily works up into a gentle, lightly foamy lather and the low-suds aspect, means it doesn’t create an abundance of frothy bubbles, which I prefer anyway, as it generally means it is not loaded with heaps of SLS, because too much of that stuff is rather irritating to my skin, therefore I would prefer to avoid it, if at all possible.  Thankfully, my sensitive skin tolerates this body wash exceptionally well, due to the gentle formulation and I have not experienced any side effects or dramas with it causing an upset to my skin at all.  Instead, it ensures my skin is ultimately clean, super smooth and so much softer than usual.
My son thinks it's  Dove-ine
I might add, that my son, who suffers from an allergic skin condition and often reacts negatively to certain skin care products, didn’t have any dilemmas when using this body wash either, so I am thrilled that it was a positive outcome, giving me with confidence that it is safe enough to continue using on both my children.  The kids, as a matter of fact, really enjoyed being nurtured from the neck down in the velvety, butter-like solution and now they request to be pampered and preened with this 'yummy' body wash every single night.
My daughter claims its Dove-ine too
So, its a surefire winner with the kids as well.  <:-P

After rinsing off the body wash and stepping out of the shower, I notice a difference in the condition of my skin immediately.  It’s almost as if a protective coating is deposited on the surface of my skin, to lock in moisture and to maintain that silky smooth feel, which is nice and soft like a babies bottom.  While my skin is adequately nourished, there isn’t any greasy, sticky residual either, rather, my skin remains well hydrated and conditioned right up until the next wash.  Because it is indeed moisturising, I can even get away without having to use a separate body lotion, which is convenient if I’m in a hurry (as I normally am) making this another great dual-purpose wonder product, and hey, who doesn’t love a good multi-tasker?  =D>

Ideal for shaving
A little tip:  I have discovered that this body wash allows for an effortless shaving experience too.  The thick texture makes an ideal shaving cream, providing for better precision and a closer shave, while the additional moisture pumped into my skin, helps alleviate pesky razor burn, shaving rash and the general itchiness associated with shaving sensitive skin.

Overall, I adore this body wash and wouldn’t hesitate in purchasing it to use again and again.  While the ‘smicky doo’ fragrance is the highlight for me, considering I think it’s to absolutely ‘die for’ it's also a fantastic, affordable alternative to a regular cake of soap (make that about a zillion times more appealing too, LOL), which will make any bath time experience a memorable affair.
Say goodbye to normal soap
It is suitable for all skin types and all members of the family, even young children or those who require a mild formula, to avoid exasperating common skin ailments.  Dove Triple Moisturising Deeply Nourishing Body Wash is, in my opinion, such a pleasure to use and guarantees my skin will be clean, healthy and thoroughly replenished.  Furthermore, I am actually looking forward to finding out if it further improves my skin to a greater degree, as per the claims professed by Dove, after I use it for a longer period of time. :)

I love body washes, do you?  Please share, what is your all-time favourite body wash?  Is there one in particular that you keep going back to and purchase time and time again?  If so why, what makes it so appealing to you?  Fill me in, always keen to learn about new bath and shower products ;)

This product was sent to me, at no charge, by Beauty Heaven, to review for their trial team.  All content written in this blog is based on my honest opinion of the reviewed product and I have been in no way pressured or paid to form this point of view.
