Clean & Clear Advantage Fast Clearing Gel

Hey fellow beauty lovers,  :-h  this next review is for a pimple treatment that was provided to me by Platinum Media & Communications. Even though I didn’t purchase this product myself, all of the thoughts and opinions you will read in this post are reflective of my own trial experience and are in no way influenced by someone other than myself.  B-)

I don’t suffer from acne, but I do experience my fair share of zits, mostly caused by hormones, stress and neglect.  (Oops!   :">  )   [-X  So, having an effective blemish buster is an important and essential feature in my standard beauty arsenal.  ;)  Clean & Clear, which falls under the parent company of Johnson & Johnson, offers a full range of skin care products that target breakouts and/or acne prone skin.  Clean & Clear Advantage Fast Clearing Gel is a fast-acting topical pimple treatment that boasts powerful acne-fighting ingredients, such as salicylic acid, to minimise the redness and swelling of spots, whilst preventing new ones from forming.  \:D/

Housed in a small 10gm silver-metallic tube with a dark purple screw-on lid and concealed in a see-through plastic outer package, both adorning the Clean & Clear logo and colour scheme recognised throughout the Advantage range, the Clean & Clear Advantage Fast Clearing Gel is presented as simple but attractive.  The nozzle under the lid is narrow and tapered to ensure the product application is precise and accurate.  The gel-based formula is clear in colour and has a semi-thick, fluid-like consistency that dispenses from the tube with ease.  It has a subtle, slightly medicinal fragrance that I don’t find offensive and it fortunately fades away quickly once applied to the skin.  =D>

Pimples can be treated by transferring a thin layer of product over the affected area, directly from the tube, or by squeezing a tiny amount onto a clean finger and dabbing it onto the problem spot.  The gel absorbs rapidly and dries clear so it’s completely undetectable on your skin, although the tingling sensation (which isn’t uncomfortable by the way   #:-S  ) lets me feel it getting to work almost instantly.  The solution acts fast by penetrating deep down and attacking the core, where the impurity starts, lessening its size and severity.  In addition to drying out the blemish, it calms and soothes the angry-red, swollen skin and dramatically reduces the unsightly appearance within hours.  :x   It can be re-applied as often as needed until the imperfection is completely healed.

The directions imply that in addition to a spot remedy, this gel can be used in conjunction with your twice daily skin care regime for a complexion that’s clean, clear and under control.  :-S   I am totally convinced by the zit zapping capabilities of this product, however, I personally wouldn’t use it for anything other than tackling individual blemishes.  /:) It’s extremely potent and very drying even for my oily skin.  :-O   It dries the skin directly at the site (so I need to be careful that it I get it on the spot only, so it dries out the pesky pimple and not the rest of my face, which could make the whole area flaky and lead to minor irritation, especially with my sensitive skin  #-o  ) and this dryness process increases after repeat applications, eventually making imperfections shrivel up and disappear altogether.  It’s my guess that only those with very resilient skin would be able to tolerate using it on larger areas of the face and even then it would be absolutely paramount to follow up with a deeply hydrating skin care lotion to keep your skin adequately moisturised.  :)>-

Overall, Clean & Clear Advantage Fast Clearing Gel packs a mighty punch and will actively knock even the most stubborn pimple for six.  b-(  It has a positive impact on the size and physical aspect of blemishes and is highly effectual for repressing impurities that are still emerging.  :D   I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this simple but productive, low cost pimple potion for anyone wishing to treat odd spots and occasional imperfections, rather than adopting it as an all-over anti-acne solution.  The compact, ‘take-anywhere’ pack makes for fast, easy application anywhere, anytime and is a ‘must-have’ skin care SOS when zits need zapping fast.  <:-P

Tip –  *-:)  Don’t apply this gel to broken skin as it contains alcohol, which will sting.  (*)

Are you a sufferer of acne prone skin, hormonal spots or blackheads?  :-? Have you found your ultimate pimple elixir that meets your needs and achieves optimal results??  :-/  Have you tried this spot treatment and if so how does it compare to your holy grail?  Please comment below :)

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser

Hi friends everywhere,  :-h  I am now submitting a review for a facial cleanser suitable for acne prone skin, sent to me by Platinum Media & Communications, to trial and write about on my blog.  I didn’t pay for this product, but my thoughts and opinions, which are expressed in this post, are solely based on my own test drive experience and are not influenced by anyone else.

Whilst I don’t suffer from Acne myself, I do struggle with hormonal spots, blackheads and infrequent breakouts, besides constantly doing battle to gain control over my often excessively oily skin.  ~X(  The Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser, is a maximum strength face wash, infused with grapefruit extract and vitamin C, along with Salicylic Acid, a powerful pimple fighting ingredient to help treat and prevent breakouts, including blackheads, whilst dissolving oil and dirt.  Featuring MicroClear® technology to boost the delivery of acne treatments and clear congested pores, after washing with this cleanser, skin is left feeling totally clean and refreshed.  :D

Available at most pharmacies everywhere, the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser, a fellow member of Johnson & Johnson companies, is just shy of $15 for a 175gm pack.  The cleanser is presented in a clear, plastic bottle with a handy pump-action dispenser and the signature Neutrogena labelling.  The consistency of the translucent pink, gel-like formula is runny like a liquid and has a very pungent fragrance that smells super sweet and somewhat synthetic.  :-"  It is citrus-based, obviously in honour of the grapefruit; however it’s definitely an artificial fruity scent and due to its rich, sweetness, may appeal to a younger audience or those who are fond of highly perfumed skin care.  ;)

One pump expels a pea-sized amount of cleanser into my palm, which I gently massage on my already wet face for about a minute, working it into a gentle, lightweight, foamy lather that rinses away all residues easily with warm water.  Once I washed it off, I noticed immediately that my skin was slightly taught, but also extremely clean.  I liked how the washing process was really refreshing and gave my skin an instant recharge.  =D>

After using this face wash for about a month, I can vouch that it is effective at clearing up existing spots, while preventing further breakouts and blackheads.  :x  The invigorating, deep-pore cleanse draws out congestion, removes dirt, oil and bacteria, to improve my skin’s texture and overall appearance.  ;;)  Sadly, despite the positive effects, the potent formulation seems to be a bit harsh for my fragile skin on a long-term basis, stripping too much moisture and making it unusually dry, tight and even a bit irritable.  :-O   I was able to counteract the dryness and any discomfort with a nourishing moisturiser,  #:-S  but when suddenly my skin started producing excess oil, which was getting worse with time and ended up triggering an onslaught of breakouts, I made the decision allow my skin a break from this product.  :-w

Considering I was pleased with the initial developments, I needed a tolerable way my fussy skin could advantage from the proven benefits I had achieved.  #-o   I’ve concluded that through my own experience, even though this cleanser isn’t personally suitable to use as a daily face wash for my skin, it’s ideal for occasional use that offers a ‘quick-fix’ for problem skin, especially around ‘that time of the month’ when hormonal zits make themselves right at home, as well as stress related breakouts, or just a general bout of congestion.  :)>-

I’ve come to appreciate that when used in moderation, the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser is a powerful arsenal in the fight against pimples and blackheads.  \:D/  It thoroughly cleans skin, deep down into the pores for a complexion that is cleaner, clearer and promptly energised.  I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone with dry or sensitive skin, but for all others, particularly anyone with oily and acne prone skin, this affordable, almighty cleanser delivers superior clear skin results.  <:-P

Tip –   (*)  Try not to get any of this cleanser in your eyes, because it does sting!  :-S

Do you suffer from acne prone skin, hormonal spots or blackheads?  :-? What cleanser would you recommend to target these concerns?  :-/  Have you tried this particular product and if so what are your thoughts?  Please comment below :-)

Clean & Clear Advantage Continuous Control Cleanser

Hey there beauties,  :-h  the following review is about a skin care cleanser that was sent to me for consideration by Platinum Media & Communications.  I didn’t pay for this product, however all thoughts and opinions shared in this post are based on my own experience and are in no way influenced by someone/anyone else.  :)>-

Clean & Clear is a brand that I have been familiar with for the best part of my life and was first introduced to their products in the 1980’s when I was a teenager trying to come to terms with the challenges an adolescent faces when their skin suddenly changes. (NOT a change for the better either, think pesky zits and red skin).   :(  At the time, I was grateful to have the opportunity to try a pimple treatment that worked wonders on my zits, without the harsh, stripping formulas I’d come to expect.  #:-S  As a teen with usual problem skin, I  it was a salvation to be able to maintain cleaner, clearer skin and get back some confidence and self esteem that are so important at that age.  Over the years, Clean & Clear, which falls under the parent company of Johnson & Johnson, has kept on growing and currently offers complete skin care regimes, boasting gentle, ‘kind-to-the-skin’ solutions, suitable for all skin types, particularly anyone who suffers from breakout and/or acne prone skin.  =D>

The Clean & Clear Advantage Pimple Control Cleanser is presented in a large 141gm plastic tube with a flip-top lid as the base, for handy storage.  The practical design makes for easy dispensing and ensures there is never any wastage, as the gel is forced to flow downward, eliminating the struggle and effort of trying to squeeze every last drop of cleanser out of the tube.  (*)  The bright, funky packaging is typical of Clean & Clear, in this case, adorning a purple, grey and white colour scheme that is modern and recognisable across the entire ADVANTAGE collection.  B-)

The cleanser has a clear, gel-based texture with a slightly runny, fluid-like consistency.  A pea-sized amount is ample to create a rich, creamy lather, more than enough to wash my entire face, neck and décolleté, removing all built-up dirt and all traces of my daily makeup.  :)  It has an artificial, medicinal sort of fragrance, yet it kind of reminds me of plain, old fashioned soap… d’oh!.   #-o  Thankfully, it doesn’t linger on my skin and is gone once it comes into contact with water.  ;)  After a 20 – 30 second massage, the foamy cleanser rinses straight off with warm water, but even though it makes my face fairly taught, I can feel a 'grimey' film over my skin’s surface, turning my, already oily, skin; greasy:-SS   This happened every wash, nevertheless, I gained control, by applying a toner post cleansing, which removed the excess residue.  I didn’t anticipate an anti-acne cleanser leaving my skin all oily (or any cleanser for that matter).  :-S  Because the ingredients are NOT listed on the packaging and there is no mention of the cleanser being oil-free, I can only wonder what may be causing the remnants to cling onto my skin, instead of rinsing away???.  :-/  The cleanser contains Benzoyl Peroxide  a powerful component used in topical acne treatments due to its proven effectiveness.  While impressive, Benzoyl Peroxide does come with a downside; it can initially be drying to the skin, so perhaps the oily formula in this cleanser is supposed to counteract and/or protect the skin from excessive dryness??  :-"

The benefit of Benzoyl Peroxide is it boosts the skin’s natural cell turnover, clears congested pores and minimises bacteria, making it ideal for impurities and problem skin.  Since, I have the occasional sensitivity issue, whenever I try new skin care products; I do a patch test prior to applying on my face. I also introduce skin care infused with highly concentrated actives, such as peeling agents, slowly and start off with only one use a week, then twice, three times etc, etc until a tolerance is achieved.  *-:)  I adopted that method with this cleanser too and fortunately didn’t experience any irritation or side effects including, burning, itching, peeling or possible swelling, all known symptoms often associated with Benzoyl Peroxide.  (*) It goes to show that some folks with sensitive skin can actually tolerate stronger formulations, just remember to be sensible and if it is too harsh, or you experience any pain or discomfort from using the product, stop use immediately.  :-t

I very rarely get spots these days, (only annoying hormonal zits at that-time-of-the-month>:P   and by incorporating this cleanser during that time, I noticed that the cool, soothing solution calmed and reduced local redness and inflammation within hours, before the imperfections eventually all disappeared…and so, so, much faster than normal!  :D  Fewer pimples have made an appearance since employing Clean & Clear; therefore, I assume it’s adequately working to keep them at bay.

Also available to purchase in a complete daily system kit.
Overall, it's a decent cleanser and although it isn’t the best solution for MY own personal skin care needs (coz it’s mission impossible finding suitable AND effective treatments that are NOT ridiculously priced, when it comes to my fussy, temperamental any anything bar normal…  ~X(  type skin),  I would still suggest it to teenagers, as well as people with adult acne issues or problematic reoccurring breakouts.  If your skin falls into one of those categories and you are distressed and in need of some fast acting SOS, then go on, give it a try!  **==  It’s a basic, extremely affordable product, readily available at most supermarkets and pharmacies across the globe.  Most importantly; it provides a thorough, deep-pore clean, leaving skin feeling instantly refreshed and looking smoother and clearer, all within a matter of days.  When used daily, in conjunction with a product regime prescribed to address your concerns, the Clean & Clear Advantage Pimple Control Cleanser can help you to achieve optimal skin health and reveal a remarkably clean, clear complexion.  \:D/

Have you ever tried any products from this brand, either now or years ago?  :-?  Have you used any skin care products that contain Benzoyl Peroxide or, can you honestly say, you’ve always avoided it, after hearing several so-called ‘horror’ stories surrounding the ingredient and/or products that use it?  Please share your thoughts and experiences, or any stories about someone you might know who has tried it.

Dr. LeWinn’s Skin Perfect Foundation

Hello fellow beauty lovers  :-h  This product that I am about to review was sent to me as a member of the trial team on the Australian beauty website Beauty Heaven.  The idea is to give it a good test drive over about a 4 week period, then submit a written review sharing my thoughts on the experience. So, here’s telling you all  :D

I’ve always been fond of Dr Lewinn’s skin care products, but with their latest Skin Perfect makeup range, they have focused on building the bridge between makeup and skincare, introducing a 2-in-1 (or make that even 3-in-1, if you consider it a sunscreen too) luxury anti-ageing cosmetic line-up.  <:-P  As a busy woman, usually I’m pressed for time, so I always welcome taking on a multi-tasking approach, when it comes to my beauty regime.  ;)  Not like your average makeup, Dr Lewinn’s Skin Perfect Foundation features additional ‘turn-back-the-clock’ benefits, such as ingredients that promote skin renewal and encourage collagen production, for smoother, firmer, more youthful-looking skin.  It’s also infused with hyaluronic acid that retains moisture to nourish and soften skin and minerals to enhance lustre and create a healthy glow.  SPF, however, is what I consider to be the ultimate age fighter, used to protect against UV damage, one of the main causes of premature ageing.  =D>

The Dr Lewinn’s Skin Perfect Foundation is packaged in a 30ml frosted glass bottle with a pump-action dispenser.  It features a silver metallised collar and a brown cap, which compliments the brown lettering and contributes to an overall sleek, stylish presentation that is ultra classy.  B-)

The consistency of the foundation is light and creamy, with a velvety, silky smooth texture that glides onto my skin and blends with ease.  Because the formula boasts SPF, unfortunately the foundation smells more like a sunscreen than anything else,  :-S   however it’s not an offensive smell and it dissipates soon after application.  #:-S  The fluid and sets rapidly, leaving a weightless, natural-looking, dewy finish that plumps my skin and radiates vibrancy and lustre.  The medium coverage doesn’t cover all of my imperfections, but it’s quite buildable, so by layering over problem areas, I can achieve a fairly decent camouflage.  :)   I have the shade Latte that matches my skin tone to perfection, disguising facial redness and minor flaws for a uniform complexion, creating a ‘not wearing foundation at all’ appearance that looks like real skin rather than a mask.  >:D<

The staying power is mediocre, possibly due to my oily skin type, (meh, seriously I can’t win a trick with oily skin=((  and after a few hours my face is quite shiny,   ~X(  although a quick dusting of translucent powder quickly corrects the problem.  (Phew, thank you lordy lord[-O<  I don’t experience any caking, streaking or patchiness and the foundation doesn’t settle into fine lines or fade, instead it seems to provide a healthy, illuminating glow, which is manageable as long as I keep the shine at bay.  I usually apply using a cosmetic brush or beauty pod, but in this case, fingers also do a pretty good job of delivering flawless results.

I love that this foundation provides the additional benefits of sun protection, as well as coverage and correcting properties.  :x   I can’t claim to have noticed a significant improvement of my premature ageing skin concerns, yet I’m more than happy to use it over a longer period to see how it develops.  :-w   I do admit though, after I’ve applied the foundation, my face takes on a delightfully youthful glow, so in that respect it truly rocks!  \:D/ We live in the day of multi-tasking products, so to have a foundation that bridges the gap between skin care and makeup (and sun protection) is pretty nifty and ideal for those who lead a busy lifestyle and prefer to cut corners.  I would definitely recommend the Dr Lewinn’s Skin Perfect Foundation to anyone wanting barely-there, natural coverage, which promotes a gorgeous, luminous complexion that looks younger and visibly more radiant.  (*)

TIP:  Use in conjunction with the Dr. LeWinn’s Primer in the same range for even better results.

Have you tried this foundation, if so what do you think…yay or nay?   :-?  What about any other anti-ageing cosmetics products?  Makeup/Skincare combinations are being seen more and more on the market these days, after all in this day and age most of us appreciate multi-use beauty products!  In your experience are they a good idea, fair enough they save you time, but do they really replace the individual steps effectively??  :-/

Dr. LeWinn’s Skin Perfect Anti-ageing Primer

Hi to all you beautiful readers everywhere  :-h   This post is about a product I received from Beauty Heaven to use for a month or so and then write up a review about my experience to submit as part of  their trial team, of which I’ve been a member for the past four years or so.  <:-P

The Dr LeWinn’s Skin Perfect Anti-ageing Primer is packaged in a 30ml frosted glass bottle with a pump-action dispenser.  It features a silver metallised collar and a brown cap, which compliments the brown lettering and contributes to an overall sleek, stylish presentation that screams class.  ;;)

The primer itself is thick, white and ultra creamy, with a silky smooth texture that is lightweight and creates an airless film on my skin.  It has a delicate, subtle fragrance that I would describe as slightly floral,  @};-  yet very pleasant and not at all overbearing, as it disappears soon after application.  The non-greasy formulation dries within moments after transferring to my skin, minus any sticky/tacky residue; instead it irons out my flaws and provides a soft, even canvas ready for my makeup.  \:D/  Because it has a moisturiser-like consistency, this primer doesn’t disguise my more obvious imperfections as well as it could, such as filling in pores or fine lines, which are still visible even after applying my makeup.  :-<

Even thought I suffer from sensitivity issues, the formulation of this primer is gentle and it doesn’t spark irritation or contribute to breakouts.  #:-S   I’ve found that this product works better for me during the cooler weather, because on hotter days, whilst initially it appears to mattify my complexion, after a few hours that dreaded midday shine begins to develop on my typically oily skin., EEK!  :-S   I’ve been using the Dr LeWinn’s Skin Perfect Anti-ageing Primer for the past month and I can’t say that I’ve noticed any general improvement in the condition of my skin in terms of anti-ageing, however I’m prepared to use it for a longer time to determine if I can achieve any further skin care benefits.  :-w   To ensure a beautiful, clear, flawless, almost dewy-looking complexion, I recommend using the primer in conjunction with the Dr Lewinn’s Foundation in the same range.  I believe that this product would perfectly suit those with normal to dry skin types, but if anyone with oily skin is interested in giving it a go, then you possibly should be prepared and keep blotting papers or a powder compact handy for touch ups throughout the day.  ;)

Have you been fortunate enough to try this primer yet?  What about any of the other products in the new makeup range…or if not possibly you’re familiar with their skin care and nail products that have been around for ages?  :-/  What are your thoughts, do you find it to be a good value for money brand and is it effective?  :-?  Please post your comments below.  I seriously love hearing from anyone who has a moment to add their thoughts.  xxx ooo

NP Set Rewind & Replenish Serum

Hello once again everyone  :-h  The next product I’m posting up for you was offered to me from the one and only Tammerly the author of informative Spoilt blog.  I put this serum to the ultimate test for just over a month and here are my thoughts bases on that experience.  ;)

NP Set is an affordable range of beauty products created by Australia’s very own makeup guru, Napoleon PerdisNP Set Rewind & Replenish Serum is a paraban free, concentrated antioxidant treatment, infused with minerals and designed to hydrate and brighten the complexion, promoting suppleness of the skin, while protecting against environmental aggressors.  =D>

Presented in a 30ml white plastic tube with a screw-off lid, the serum is adorned with black lettering and the all-familiar NP Set logo and displays pure simplicity.  I must admit I feel a bit 'ripped off:-O   with the small size of the tube though, because it doesn’t deliver much value for money.  ^:)^

The weightless serum has a cloudy, gel-like texture and features a subtle fruity scent that disappears once it’s applied.  A pea-sized amount is sufficient for my whole face and the slippery solution easily glides over my skin, providing a cool, soothing sensation to instantly transform and enliven my appearance.  ;;)  It leaves a slightly sticky finish and takes a few minutes to completely absorb, but during the drying process, I can immediately feel my skin begin to tighten and prompt a smooth, even canvas.  This makes the serum particularly ideal as a base for under makeup, allowing my foundation to grip onto the tacky surface, helping keep it in place.  :)  Unfortunately, I discovered it provided only a short-term respite, because the formula, which includes Shea Butter, is too rich for my oily skin and after a couple of hours my face starts developing the dreaded shine.  Nooooo!  ~X(  For that reason, I’ve mostly been applying this serum at night, so I can take advantage of the possible skin care benefits without having to worry about added greasiness.  :-<

Whilst this serum boasts some great ingredients, after utilising it daily for the past month, I can’t say that it’s produced any significant anti-ageing improvements to the overall condition of my skin.  #-o   Therefore, apart from the immediate radiance boosting effects and its ability to smooth and soften the texture of my skin, I was quite disappointed at the lack of visible results.  :(  I guess it could be just functioning as an antioxidant should, by shielding my skin from damaging free radicals; however, at this stage, even that is not a claim I am able to positively confirm.  :-S   Personally, I wouldn’t repurchase the NP Set Rewind & Replenish Serum, as I don’t consider it affordable at all, in fact, I think it’s rather expensive for such a little tube that only offers a few temporary benefits that I could achieve using any basic, entry level primer.  :>  It’s indicated that the serum is suitable for all skin types, yet I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with an oily complexion, as I doubt it’s going to do you any favours and will more than likely exacerbate your oiliness, which we all know, can tend to trigger breakouts.  You may have more success if your skin is normal to dry, but to be honest, due to its limited performance ability and based on my own experience, I’d suggest it might to be pointless to expect too much.  :-w

TIP For improved makeup application, (only if you have normal to dry skin, this isn’t the best for oily complexions) try using the serum as primer, so foundation goes on smoother and adheres better to the skin.

Have you tried this product or any other skin care products from this range?  :-/  What do you think, are they effective or….??  I personally have found better serums and primers for better value than this, how about you??   :-?  Please comment below!

Elixia Fine Line Lip Serum

Hi peeps!   :-h  Posting up some more well overdue product reviews for you all.  This one was sent to me by the gorgeous and ever generous Tammerly from Spoilt, so I could test it out and share my experience with you all.  :-)

Elixia is an Australian company who produces premium skin care based on science and clinical development, such as their High Performance Anti-Ageing collection that features a Fine Line Lip Serum.  The all natural range is free of nasties and enriched with a potent blend of peptides, antioxidants and actives, including Vitamins A (retinol), C and E.  The products are formulated using an exclusive, innovative technology called TPM (Targeted Penetration Matris) to help deliver the effective cocktail of ingredients deep into the epidermis for better execution, whereby enhancing the absorption and penetration by up to 4 times.  The serum works to reduce the appearance of visible lines and wrinkles around the lip area, whilst increasing plumpness and hydration to the lip surface and ensuring the lip contour keeps in shape, for a more youthful appearance.  :D

The Fine Line Lip Serum comes in a stylish 10ml pump-action metal canister, boasting the easy to identify silver and bold magenta colour scheme that is consistent throughout the entire range, giving me the impression that it’s a high quality brand.  The ergonomic, airless packaging is hygienic and designed to block out oxygen and protect the inner contents, so the natural, preservative-free formulation can maintain its purity and last longer.  The biggest downfall of this treatment, however, is related to the dispenser, which pumps out too much serum for a single application, despite constantly trying to control the flow.  ~X(  (Very frustrating, grrr!)  I only need half the pumped amount and there’s no way to return the leftovers to the pack, other than scraping it into the inside of the lid to use later; a step that totally defeats the purpose of better hygiene in the first place.  #-o  But…it’s either that or wasting it, and I am not one for squandering beauty products, especially when they’re quite costly.  :-O

The weightless formula is white in colour and has a creamy, fluid-like consistency, similar to a lotion, with a smooth, velvety texture.  It claims to be unscented, yet it does have a very faint fragrance   @};-  that is typical of non-perfumed skin care, nevertheless I don’t consider it offensive and it doesn’t linger.  I only need a teeny weeny amount of serum to massage over my lips and on the surrounding skin of my lip contour.  I admit, at first it felt bizarre putting a moisturiser, similar to that of a body or face cream, straight on my lips,  :-S   as I’ve previously only used balm-type products, but the good thing is that it’s fast absorbing and there is no residue at all.  In fact, it completely disappears leaving my smackers feeling bare and natural, rather than being coated in a greasy film.  #:-S   For me, the indication that this treatment was actually working became noticeable after a week of using it religiously, twice a day.  The condition of my lips improved immensely, and gone were my usual, parched, scaly (often peeling) lips that displayed evident flaws, like cracks and fissures on their surface.  Instead, my pout was soft, supple and silky smooth.  It makes a great makeup base too, because it primes and nourishes my lips, so they emerge polished and my lipstick stays put without feathering and remains flawless for longer.  =D>  Ideally, it provides a revitalising ‘quick-fix’ if my kissers are dehydrated and need an extra moisture boost during the day.

This is the first lip conditioner I’ve ever tried and I LOVE   :x   how it locks in moisture and protects my peckers from the elements, to help slow down the ageing process, while gradually, over time, reversing existing damage and softening any obvious lines.  Even though my lips don’t ‘feel’ particularly hydrated after application, like they do with most balms, I do know it’s performing, simply by seeing the transformation of my lips.  ;)  Prior to starting this trial, I was practically addicted to lip balms and was forever slathering them on my lips, day and night, to treat the unsightly roughness.  But, no amount of balm has ever gotten my lips looking as good as they are since I started using the Fine Line Lip Serum.  I am impressed with the results I’ve achieved after nearly a month and although the price tag is a bit steep, I would still consider making it a permanent addition to my beauty regime.  Unfortunately, because the pump expels an excess of product, I imagine it’s going to run out a lot sooner than it should, meaning it’s not very cost effective, so I doubt I would repurchase it, unless packaging changes are made to prevent wastage.  Regardless of the cons, I would definitely recommend this serum to anyone who has exhausted other options and needs a truly effective treatment that will rejuvenate and enhance the appearance of their lips.  Pucker up and kiss those peeling, flaking, cracking, dry, chapped lips goodbye and give them the attention they deserve and show off a plumper, healthier, more youthful smile.  :-*

Has anyone else tried a lip conditioner before?   :-?  Did you find it felt strange to be putting a cream on your lips for the first time?  I certainly did, but have definitely gotten use to it and to be honest I am so happy with the results.  Just wish it wasn’t so costly as I’m not sure my budget will cater for such an expense atm….  :(    Maybe some of you can recommend a cheaper lip conditioner that I could check out?  :-/  Feel free to comment below!

Pure Therapy by Purist - Daily Restore Face Moist

Hey there one more time peeps!  :-h   This will be the last post of this latest batch, so hope ya’ll don’t mind being bombarded overtime when I do get around to updating my blog each month.  :-@  ;)  I suffer from sensitive skin problems, making it randomly  prone to redness, itching and discomfort and when this occurs my normal moisturisers either aggravate the symptoms further, whilst specialty pharmaceutical products turns my already oily skin into a big greasy mess, causing blocked pores and triggering breakouts, or even worse strips my skins natural oils leaving it parched and uncomfortable . :(  Until now my only option is to avoid everything until the irritation subsides, but unfortunately neglecting my skin like that wipes out all the hard work I’ve put in maintaining a diligent skin care regime that targets my skin concerns, leaving me back at square one.  :-L   So, when Tammerly the brains (and beauty) behind Spoilt blog sent me out a moisturiser from a newly released label that is suitable for sensitive skin, I was keen to start the trial.  Here is my review based on that experience.  :)

Pure Therapy is a new range brought to us by The Purist Company, an Australian manufacturer of natural, safe and effective personal care products.  Purist is also the parent company the highly acclaimed A’kin Skincare and Alchemy Haircare brands.  Recommended by doctors and hospitals, the clinically proven Pure Therapy line-up, is free from parabens, sulphates, ethoxylated emulsifiers, artificial colours and animal derivatives.  >:D<  Pure Therapy Daily Restore Face Moist is infused with vitamins and botanicals, including colloidal oatmeal, which helps soothe and calm the skin and offers essential relief to sensitivity problems or symptoms like redness and irritation.  #:-S  The intensely moisturising formula improves the skins ability to retain moisture and strengthens the barrier function for long-lasting hydration, whilst creating a protective shield against dryness and external aggressors.  It provides immediate respite for vulnerable skin, leaving it feeling smooth, soft and supple.  The gentle blend is even suitable for those who suffer from Eczema, Psoriasis and Contact Dermatitis.  \:D/

Presented in a slimline, squeezable tube, the plainly packaged moisturiser doesn’t appear too fancy in the looks department, yet the simple design boasts an appropriate nature-inspired colour scheme, which is featured throughout the range and complimentary to the whole ‘pure’ concept. The tube has a grey oval twist-off lid that only needs one turn to open and remove and then simply reverse the action to close.  With that in mind, the lid doesn’t seem to secure firmly on the tube, therefore I wouldn’t suggest popping it in your bag during transit, or you might end up with a big fat mess, EEK!.   :-S

The Pure Therapy Daily Restore Face Moist is rich and emollient with a thick creamy texture. The pale yellow coloured moisturiser is velvety smooth and silky, but due to the density, I was initially concerned it was going to be too heavy or greasy and would be likely to cause congestion.  A pea-sized amount of cream is ample to spread onto my whole face and neck, absorbing well, like a drink for my thirsty skin.  It does leave a sticky/tacky residue once applied, but fortunately that dries quickly to then reveal softer, plumper-looking skin.  ;;)  The product claims to be fragrance free, however there is a distinct oatmeal smell that’s quite comforting, although the scent doesn’t linger once transferred to the skin.  The finish is semi-matte and slightly dewy, but has a lightweight, non-greasy feel that allows my skin to breathe and avoid clogged pores or breakouts.  During the day, my oily skin is usually prone to developing a midday shine, so powder and blotting papers are basically necessities.  Because this moisturiser has the staying power to last the distance and no greasiness, it makes a great base under makeup, and hence I can finally ditch those frequent touch-ups to mop up excess oil.  Instead, I am revelling in a shine-free complexion.  <:-P

I’ve been using the Pure Therapy Daily Restore Face Moist twice daily and have to admit, I’m totally smitten with the results.  :x   It has definitely exceeded my expectations and I’m thrilled that it’s affordable, readily available and it actually does work.  I can now confidently hydrate my skin without the fear that after a few hours, my face will start resembling something that hails from a deep fryer.  :D  In fact, since I started using this moisturiser, a month ago, I have noticed a considerable improvement in the natural pH of my skin, which is maintaining better balance, thereby reducing excess oil production.  Additionally, by alleviating any skin sensitivity issues as they occur, my skin tone has evened out, prompting a uniform complexion, so that facial redness and blotchiness are a thing of the past.  =D>  I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Pure Therapy Daily Restore Face Moist to anyone, especially sufferers of problem skin, who want a heavy-duty, healing and protecting cream that locks in moisture and alleviates discomfort.  The long lasting defence keeps skin resistant to external irritants, ensuring it remains calm, soft and fully replenished.  This quick-fix beauty aid is a handy addition to any skin care arsenal.  O:-)
I am awarding this moisturiser with 4.5 out of 5 stars, loosing only ½ a star because of the unsecure lid.  (*)  (*)  (*)  (*) & ½  (*)

Do you have sensitive skin issues and find choosing a moisturiser a bit of a dilemma?  :-/   Are you familiar with this range or have you tried any of the products from either of the other Purist line-ups?  :-?  Please feel free to share your experience!

ORLY Magnetic FX Nail Polish in 'Force Field'

Hello everybody!  :-h   Lately, I’ve been spending less time online and that means not frequenting very much in the way of beauty forums and websites,  :(  so to be completely honest, I’ve basically been hidden under a rock when it came to magnetic polishes  :">  and until now I hadn’t even heard of them much less tried any.  L-)  (shh that can be our little secret   :-$  nobody has to know  ;)  ) When I scored the ORLY Magnetic FX Nail Polish, from Tammerly to test out and review for her blog Spoilt, which is linked through here.  I was completely clueless  :-B  and needed to undertake a bit of research online to read the instructions step by step and learn more about it.

The limited edition ORLY Magnetic FX Nail Polish is a current trend, taking the concept of nail art to a whole new level.  The nail lacquer is infused with microscopic metallic particles and when painted onto the nail and held in front of a special magnet, the particles get drawn toward it, creating a fashionable, contemporary-looking design.  The collection only comes in three shades, but each colour has its own unique pattern.  I received the shade ‘Force Field’, a gorgeous, deep, shimmery, plum coloured purple, speckled with hints of red, silver and gold.  ‘Force Field’ consists of horizontal lines that have a soft, gradual curve.  :-*

Force Field

The ORLY Magnetic FX Nail Polish comes in a large 18ml glass bottle with an innovative rubber grip cap, featured throughout the entire ORLY range, which allows for better hold and maximum control.  The magnet is positioned on a clear, plastic, removable ring shaped tool that snaps onto the neck of the bottle, at the base of the lid. A tag also hangs on the bottle and this boasts the design of the magnet and instructions for use.  The brush is a decent length and width, without being too bulky, enabling a precise, even application.  \:D/

The formula, like all ORLY nail lacquers, is ‘3-Free’, meaning it’s void of the most dangerous and disputed toxic chemicals, toluene, formaldehyde and DBP that were, at one stage, regularly included in the composition of nail polishes.  #:-S  The ORLY Magnetic FX Nail Polish has a creamy consistency and applies smoothly with no streaking and is quick to dry.  ‘Force Field’ is a full coverage lacquer; therefore, I only need to use one coat to produce brilliant opacity.  To use, I simply paint it on, one nail at a time and working quickly, while it’s still wet, place the underside of my nail tip on the outer lip of the magnetic tool, for support, positioning the nail within millimetres of the magnet, where it must remain for 10 seconds to allow the design to form.  This step is then repeated for each nail.  There are three ways I discovered to use the magnetic tool; it can be held with your free hand, put directly onto a hard surface, or my preferred method is to leave it attached to the bottle, for greater comfort and better performance.  When used at this height, I can prop each nail onto the lip, whilst my hand rests freely to prevent too much movement.  I personally thought the magnet could have been bigger, as the small size makes it awkward and fiddly at times, but thankfully my nails are reasonably short and not very wide, so the pattern covers the whole of my nail, yet on my slightly larger thumbs, it appears toward the centre only, which is probably the effect someone with long or large nails could expect.  :-<  The durability is above average, providing me between 3-5 days of wear without chipping, depending on how hard I’ve been on my hands at the time.  To maintain optimal results, this polish should be used in conjunction with a good quality base and top coat.  <:-P

Force Field - Finished Effect
I was chuffed at the effective results of the ORLY Magnetic FX Nail Polish and after I eventually got the hang of it, the application process was a breeze.  :x   Initially, it took a few attempts before I mastered the art of using the magnetic tool, as it was a bit tricky trying not to bump the wet lacquer on the magnet and make a smudgy mess, oops!   #-o  In any case, after a few failures, when there is only one option…..to remove the polish and start again, it definitely became easier over time and the practice paid off.  ;)  Now, with just two basic steps, I can transform my nails into a groovy, ultra chic design, with minimal fuss, using only one product.   B-) When I step out adoring the ORLY Magnetic FX Nail Polish, my manicure earns me heaps of compliments and I’m frequently asked ‘How did you do that?’ to which I simply reply ‘MAGIC!’   >-) Because, it really does take the time and effort out of nail art, promoting a funky, modern look with a touch of creative genius.  =D>
I gave it a 4.5 star rating out of 5!  (*)  (*)  (*)  (*)  & ½  (*)

TIP –   *-:)  It might take a few goes before you feel competent using the magnetic tool, but as the old saying goes, practise makes perfect!

Have you tried this range before, if so what did you think?  :-?  Otherwise, have you tried any of the other numerous brands that make magnetic polishes….or maybe all of them?  Which one do you think creates the best effect?  I don’t suppose anyone else could possibly be so behind in the times that you have not heard of them either?  :-/  If it is even possible that there is anyone like that reading this, ‘holla at me please’….we’re not alone, ROFL!  =))

Manicare Ultimate Point Tweezers

Howdy friends everywhere!  :-h  The next post is another Spoilt blog review for Tammerly who kindly sent me this product to trial, then put my experience into words to share with you all.  Tweezers are probably one of the most common items in anyone’s beauty arsenal (golly even those who don’t too much care for skin care or makeup, generally use tweezers for personal grooming…  ;;)   if not then at least for pulling out splinters, ROFL!   =))  )so, I thought this would be a pretty useful product to test drive.  In my opinion a girl can never have enough tweezers ;)

Everyone needs a pair of Manicare Ultimate Point Tweezers in their beauty kit!  Why?  :-?  Because they are designed for advanced precision and are the best option when it comes to plucking individual, baby fine or short hairs in hard to reach areas, tackling ingrowns or just to have on standby in case your unfortunate enough to get a splinter.  =D>  Made from quality stainless steel, these tweezers boast very sharp, hand crafted tips, which are tapered to a fine point and have edges that are perfectly aligned for the most accurate tweezing. With a contoured, sleek design to provide the ultimate in control that grasps onto single hairs without sliding off or causing breakage.

Presented in a cardboard blister pack, these tweezers are packaged with a bonus clear plastic tube for storage, to protect the life of the tweezers. It is also a handy travel companion, so I can take my tweezers with me wherever I go.  :D

Manicare Ultimate Point Tweezers are comfortable to hold and simple to manoeuvrer, after I got use to the initial feel of them.  They are an affordable multi-use tweezer that effectively plucks out those stray, pesky hairs that normal tweezers might miss.  They are also brilliant at dislodging stubborn ingrowns.  \:D/ I like the protective case because I have dropped many a pair of tweezers over the years, only to find this takes out the alignment and they are then deemed useless, d’oh!#-o   I am not sure how long these tweezers will last,  :-/  but for the time being, as long as I always remember to put them back in their case,  *-:)  they might last the distance.  Either way, at just over $10, these are a pretty decent pair of throw-away tweezers, readily available at most pharmacies and department stores nationwide that I won’t mind replacing when they wear out or go blunt.  If I get 6 months out of them, I’m doing better than I have with previous tweezers.  <:-P   Manicare Ultimate Point Tweezers are a beauty staple, providing fuss free hair removal.  >:D<
.I rated these tweezers with 4 stars out of 5!  (*)  (*)  (*)  (*)

I am pretty sure everyone would have tried Manicare tweezers at some stage in their lives!  How do you rate them?  :-?  What would be your preferred tweezers of choice, pointed or slanted and why? Have you found a brand that runs rings around the rest, one that you would care to recommend?  :-/  Feel free to comment!  :)

Royal Moroccan Hair Repair Conditioner

Hello, hello!  :-h   :-h   Next I have the partner product of the previous review I posted, which unite together in a team effort to provide the overall end results.  Once again, the Royal Moroccan product was send to me via Tammerly from Spoilt, to trial and review for her fabulous beauty blog.  As I mentioned in my last post, I was keen to experience the benefits of Argan oil hair care, so was thrilled to have the opportunity to check out a new and wonderful brand that I’d not previously heard of.  >:/

The Royal Moroccan Hair Repair Conditioner comes in a 300ml translucent amber plastic bottle with a pump-action dispenser situated on a silver/chrome coloured lid.  It boasts a contrasting pale blue label that includes an attractive silver, yellow and black design.  The pump features an open and close position, but based on experience, I wouldn’t recommend travelling with the bottle as it could possibly leak during transit, d’oh!   #-o   The white conditioner has a thick consistency and a smooth, creamy texture, similar to a moisturiser.  The blend is infused with lots of natural goodness such as Sweet Almond, Calendula and Argan oils that create a fragrant floral, botanical aroma that is also evident in the shampoo.  @};-  The scent is quite strong initially, but it’s not an offensive smell and it gradually dissipates once the hair starts to dry.   I need at least 6 – 8 pumps of conditioner to generously massage through my strands from root to tip, so I gather that the conditioner will run out twice as fast as the shampoo.  It spreads effectively and the gentle formula is soothing and nurturing to my easily aggravated, sensitive scalp and it rinses away completely with water.  Unfortunately it doesn’t do a very good job at detangling my long, straight tresses, so I need to go through with a wide tooth comb, whilst still damp and remove the knots that have formed during the washing process.  :-<

After drying, my locks are super soft, shiny and not at all greasy.  There is no build-up coating my strands, so it doesn’t weigh it down, instead there is a distinctive bounce that enhances the illusion of fuller, thicker hair.  =D>  It doesn’t do much to control the frizzy flyaways, so an additional product is required for achieving sleek, straight strands.  After using this conditioner, along with the shampoo in the same range, for the past couple of weeks, I am noticing a slight improvement in the overall condition of my hair and scalp.  My scalp isn’t dry, flaky or irritable and my over processed tresses are nourished and feeling less fragile with a reduction in brittle, straggly ends and a general healthier-looking appearance.  :D

This conditioner compliments my fine hair, which has long been exposed to DIY hair colours and heat styling for the best part of my life.  I like the hair care qualities of Argan oil that, over time, help to treat and repair my hair.  :)  With the ability to restore life to my neglected mane, adding moisture and strength, as well as boosting elasticity.  The addition of vitamins and proteins protects against environmental assault and ensures all over brilliance and lustre.  ;;)  Some of the more popular brands of Argan oil, like Moroccanoil, are very costly,  :>  however Royal Moroccan is very affordable at a fraction of the price and ideal for consumers who want to experience the benefits but can’t justify such an expense.  ;)  Personally I am satisfied with the short term results of this shampoo/conditioner combination and I will continue its use in the hope of rejuvenating my hair further, which only time will tell.  The Royal Moroccan Hair Repair Conditioner would be suitable for anyone looking to actively repair damage and maintain optimum hair heath, utilising the benefits of Argan oil, minus the expense of over priced alternatives.    >:D<
I rated this conditioner with 4 stars out of 5.  (*)  (*)  (*)  (*)

Does this range sound like something you would be interested in trying?  :-/  Have you experienced any similar products before and if so what are your thoughts?  :-?  Would you be satisfied with a conditioner that does wonders for your hair and scalp but not so much for detangling, or does it need to do both?

Royal Moroccan Sulphate Free Hair Repair Shampoo

Hi guys! :-h   Effort #2 for the night coming right at ya, hehe!   ;))  This next post is about a hair care product from the brand Royal Moroccan, provided by Tammerly from Spoilt, to test drive and review for her blog.  I’d never heard of this brand before, although everyone has heard of the benefits of Argan oil, especially for hair, so it was something I was looking super forward to putting through its paces.  \:D/

The Royal Moroccan Sulphate Free Hair Repair Shampoo is presented in an 300ml amber coloured, see-through, plastic bottle, with a silver/chrome lid and pump-action dispenser.  The label, in contrast, is blue and has a stylish silver, orange and black design that would look attractive on display in the bathroom vanity.  ;;)  The packaging isn’t travel-friendly and even though the pump features a locking position, there is a possibility that it could still leak and get very messy, EEK!  :-SS  (Yes, this happened to me and it WAS indeed a big, fat, mess   ~X(  that took me AGES to clean up and attempt to salvage  :(  ).  The clear gel-like shampoo has a smooth, runny consistency to begin with but after contact it’s dense and slightly creamy in texture.  Blended with the fragrant goodness of plant based ingredients, including the widely popular Argan oil, I would describe the reflective scent as a floral, botanical aroma, which is also evident in the matching conditioner@};-  Whilst I don’t consider the smell unpleasant, it is quite pungent to begin with,  @-) but fortunately it isn’t so noticeable once the hair begins to dry and in fact over time I have even grown quite partial to it.  >:D<  I found that 4 – 5 pumps of shampoo provided a sufficient amount to massage right through my medium length hair.  Because the formula is sulphate free it doesn’t lather up into a big mound of bubbles, instead it gradually works into a lightweight foam, which effectively cleans my hair.  My scalp is sensitive and easily aggravated, particularly from harsh hair care products, this shampoo is quite mild and instead of upsetting my scalp it soothes and nurtures, making it perfect for frequent use.  =D>  Water rinses out every last trace of shampoo from my tresses, with no greasy residue left coating the strands.  It leaves my hair feeling nice and clean, but the only downside is the lengths are a bit mattered and knotty after shampooing (but I guess I can live with that, LOL   :))  ).

After following through with the conditioner in the same range and towel drying, the result is silky, soft, glossy locks that aren’t weighed down, stripped or parched.  Instead it imparts an incredible fullness and bounce that gives the impression of thickness to my naturally fine hair.  :-*  The shampoo and conditioner combination from this range has already improved the overall condition of my hair and scalp in the short space of just a few weeks.  I no longer have a dry, flaky scalp that is red and itchy and my over processed tresses are less fragile with the boost of nourishment helping to diminish the brittle, straggly ends and transform my locks leading into an overall healthier-looking appearance.  :D

My thin hair has been colour treated and exposed to regular environmental & chemical abuse as well as, general heat styling, all over the past couple of decades, so the damage is clearly evident.  [-X   :">  I have heard of the treating and repairing capabilities of Argan oil and hope that over time, this Argan oil enriched shampoo will perfectly compliment my personal hair care needs.  I look forward to restoring life to my neglected mane, enhancing its elasticity, whilst adding moisture and strength.  Packed with vitamins and proteins to protect against future assault, yet promoting all over lustre, vitality and brilliance.  <:-P   I’ve always wanted to experience the benefits of Argan oil, but popular brands like Moroccanoil were just too expensive, so I was thrilled to discover that Royal Moroccan is an affordable alternative at just a fraction of the cost.  :">  The short term results I achieved using this shampoo, along with the matching conditioner in the same range are impressive already, although I plan to continue the use over a longer time to determine the possibility of rejuvenating my tresses to an even greater extent.  The Royal Moroccan Sulphate Free Hair Repair Shampoo is suitable for anyone with damaged or coloured hair, looking for a restorative solution that will help keep your hair and scalp healthy and especially those who want to try the benefits of Argan oil, without succumbing to an expensive price tag.  B-)
I awarded this product with 4 stars out of 5.   (*)  (*)  (*)  (*)

Have you heard of this brand or been lucky enough to try it out?  :-?  If not I say hop to it, it’s a worthwhile investment and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed ;)  What about Argan oil, what are your thoughts, is it 'all that' or……?
