Aromatherapy Associates

Hi again beauties! :-h  This next post features a couple of hair care products that were sent to me by Tammerly, who is the talented author of Spoilt.  She asked me to test drive a shampoo and conditioner from a company I’d never heard of before, so I could then review them for her blog.  I’m always happy to try out new hair care brands, especially when they’re a little bit different than the norm, but of course, who wouldn’t hehe   ;))  Anyway, here’s what I though:

Aromatherapy Associates Balance Shampoo

( $28.80 per 300ml –  I received the 40ml Travel Size )

Aromatherapy Associates is a UK brand focused on delivering effective and luxurious aromatherapy experiences.  Their Balance Shampoo claims to be mild, gentle and suitable for all hair types.  It’s enriched with pure essential oils to maintain optimal hair and scalp health.  :)

I received this shampoo in a small, squeezable tube, which is lavender in colour and has a clear plastic flip-top lid.  The generous size makes it ideal for travelling and reminds me of the amenities that are usually supplied for guests to use when staying at certain motel/hotel chains.  ;)

The clear, gel-like shampoo has a thick consistency and a very prominent herbal scented aroma,   @};-  due to rosemary and ylang ylang being the two key ingredients.  I’m not sure if it’s the sort of smell that appeals to everyone, however I found it quite soothing and relaxing, yet considering it was quite strong initially, the scent eventually faded.  I needed to dispense about a 20c coin worth of product to massage into my scalp and lengths, which developed into a very light, somewhat creamy lather that left my locks feeling squeaky clean and instantly refreshed.  It rinsed completely out of my hair, leaving no oily residue, but I did notice my strands were quite tangled and feeling a little parched.  :-S

I then used the Condtioner in the same range, with the combination resulting in shiny, lustrous tresses that ended up feeling adequately nourished.  I was really disappointed to discover that the second ingredient listed on the back of the shampoo was SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulfate)   :-O   which I really didn’t expect to find in an aromatherapy range.  I originally assumed the brand supported the use of natural ingredients, considering the company philosophy includes ‘Pure natural and effective’ and especially since it didn’t work into a very foamy lather either.  But after using both the shampoo and conditioner several times, I noticed that my scalp had become irritated and itchy, only since introducing these products.  This triggered me to check the ingredients list and I know based on past experience that the SLES in the shampoo was the most likely culprit to cause the scalp aggravation.  ~X(  What a shame, in my opinion that alone, spoils the whole experience for me and I don’t understand the sense in using nasty ingredients in a product that claims to keep the scalp in good condition?  :-/  It goes to show, if you’re concerned and have sensitive skin then always check the ingredients labels, despite what the product name suggests.  /:)

Travel Size Shampoo
Overall, this shampoo was a let down.  :(  It’s rather costly like a high end salon product and while it promises to deliver healthy, strong tresses and to keep the scalp in good condition, I guess it would be better suited to those without sensitive skin issues.  My hair was soft, smooth and healthy after using the Aromatherapy Associates Balance Shampoo and Condtioner combination, however because I determined that the detergents in the shampoo were upsetting my scalp so much, I had to discontinue use.  Unfortunately, this product was not for me and based on my own personal views, I would only be comfortable suggesting it to people who are keen on the therapeutic benefits of essential oils and don’t mind the distinct fragrance they produce.  :)>-

Aromatherapy Associates Balance Conditioner

($28.80 for 300ml - I received the 40ml Travel Size)

Aromatherapy Associates is a UK brand focused on delivering effective and luxurious aromatherapy experiences.  Their Balance Conditioner claims to be enriched with pure essential oils and suitable for all hair types.  It maximises smooth, soft glossy hair.  :D

I received this conditioner in a small, squeezable tube, which is pale grey in colour and has a clear plastic flip-top lid.  The generous size makes it ideal for travelling and reminds me of the amenities that are usually supplied for guests to use when staying at certain motel/hotel chains.  ;;)

The white, creamy conditioner has a smooth, rich consistency and boasts a distinct herbal fragrance,  %%-  based on the key ingredients of ylang ylang, geranium and patchouli.  The smell may not appeal to everyone, but I find the aroma uplifting and it stimulates the senses and leaves me feeling revitalised.  I use a small amount of conditioner, around the size of a 20 cent coin to massage into my scalp and distribute it throughout my lengths.   It washes out with warm water and instantly detangles my long straight locks, which were all tangled after the washing process.  =D>

When dry, my mane is left soft and shiny, with no greasy build-up weighing it down, instead it’s more balanced and effectively nourished.  It works well at taming my frizzy flyaways, resulting in smooth, sleek strands with a more definite shine.  After using the conditioner, in conjunction with the shampoo in the same range, unfortunately my scalp became itchy and irritable as a result of the detergents in the shampoo, so I was unable to continue using the combination to determine if over time the products do in fact improve the strength and condition of my hair.   :|  I’ve been using the conditioner alone as an occasional treatment and I have not experienced any discomfort to my scalp, so I can vouch that it is in fact suitable for those with sensitive skin too.  :-*

Travel Size Conditioner
The conditioner has wonderful detangling and smoothing properties and did moderately care for my overall hair health.  It’s quite expensive, in line with top-shelf, salon brands and based on my personal experience, I highly doubt I would consider spending that much on what I consider to be more of a mediocre product.  The Aromatherapy Associates Balance Conditioner may appeal to anyone who appreciates the therapeutic benefits of essential oils, particularly those who don’t mind the aromatic qualities and can afford the cost.  It’s really a better option for those who wish to team it with the partnering shampoo, otherwise if used on its own; it could make for a nice moisturising treat that delivers soft, sleek, more manageable tresses.  :)

Rating - 3.5 out of 5 (published for SpoiltClick here to view)

Have you heard of this brand or tried it before??   :-?  Have you tried hair care products that you assumed were natural, based on labeling, only to discover they were not quite what you were led to believe?   :-/  Please feel free to comment with your thoughts.

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil

Hi friends from all over the WWW:-h  This post is for another hair oil, very similar in fact to the L’Oreal Professionnel Mythic Oil I have previously reviewed. This time the lovely folks at Beauty Heaven sent me out the L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil (I’m just loving these cool names btw, B-)  who thinks of them, LOL  :))  ultra mag and kinda catchy too) to test drive for their Trial Team.  Check out my thoughts:  :D

I have baby fine, straight, coloured hair that has oily roots and dry lengths, so previously the thought of adding oil of any shape, size or form was quite terrifying.  :-SS   I’ve since discovered that by using suitable treatment oils, which aren’t too heavy or rich, my mane won’t become limp or slick with oil and appear dirty,   #:-S   instead the nourishing formulas help counteract the oiliness and protect my mop, leaving it beautifully soft and shiny.  ;;)

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil is a versatile blend of 6 botanical, flower oils  @};-  that brings out the natural beauty and health of your hair.  It retails for only $19.95 for 100mls,  <:-P  which is an absolute bargain compared to similar hair care oils on the market that can cost in excess of $50 for a bottle the same size.  :-O   Speaking of the bottle, the packaging of the L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil screams pure class and looks like it belongs in an upmarket salon, rather than on a supermarket shelf.  $-)  The stained glass bottle is translucent amber in colour and is of a solid, sturdy quality.  It features a pump-action lid that locks shut to avoid spills and allows the user to easily dispense the product without making a mess.  =D>

The weightless oil is clear in colour and has a sweet lolly-like fragrance that isn’t exactly my preferred type of scent, but it isn’t too overpowering, nor does it bother me to the point of avoiding it either.  ;)  The runny fluid has a silky texture that absorbs fast and most importantly doesn’t leave any greasy residue.  It can be used on either wet or dry tresses, as a conditioning treatment before washing to provide intense conditioning for damaged locks, for protection prior to styling, or as a finishing solution that controls static, smoothing away frizzy flyaways and creating a lustrous glossy sheen.  (*)

The multi-use oil is effective regardless how I use it, and because my hair is so fine, one pump supplies enough oil to evenly distribute throughout the strands of my hair.  The result is soft, sleek tresses that are nourished and more manageable, with greater flexibility and an enhanced all-over shine.  :x   In the past couple of weeks since I’ve been using this oil frequently, I can see a noticeable improvement in the overall condition of my hair, which looks and feels remarkably better.  To defy those bad hair days, I would absolutely recommend the L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil, as an ideal addition to any hair care regime, because the handy styling support delivers optimal hair health and luscious-looking locks at an unbeatable price that we can all afford.  \:D/

Have you tried any of the various hair oils available on the market these days?  :-/  Which one do you like the best, is it the cheapest, or have you concluded you get what you pay for??  :-?  Would love to hear your thoughts and how oil is a benefit for your hair care routine, based on experience and hair type.  Cheers for now! xxx ooo      :-*   >:D<

Royal Moroccan Hair Repair Conditioner

Hello, hello!  :-h   :-h   Next I have the partner product of the previous review I posted, which unite together in a team effort to provide the overall end results.  Once again, the Royal Moroccan product was send to me via Tammerly from Spoilt, to trial and review for her fabulous beauty blog.  As I mentioned in my last post, I was keen to experience the benefits of Argan oil hair care, so was thrilled to have the opportunity to check out a new and wonderful brand that I’d not previously heard of.  >:/

The Royal Moroccan Hair Repair Conditioner comes in a 300ml translucent amber plastic bottle with a pump-action dispenser situated on a silver/chrome coloured lid.  It boasts a contrasting pale blue label that includes an attractive silver, yellow and black design.  The pump features an open and close position, but based on experience, I wouldn’t recommend travelling with the bottle as it could possibly leak during transit, d’oh!   #-o   The white conditioner has a thick consistency and a smooth, creamy texture, similar to a moisturiser.  The blend is infused with lots of natural goodness such as Sweet Almond, Calendula and Argan oils that create a fragrant floral, botanical aroma that is also evident in the shampoo.  @};-  The scent is quite strong initially, but it’s not an offensive smell and it gradually dissipates once the hair starts to dry.   I need at least 6 – 8 pumps of conditioner to generously massage through my strands from root to tip, so I gather that the conditioner will run out twice as fast as the shampoo.  It spreads effectively and the gentle formula is soothing and nurturing to my easily aggravated, sensitive scalp and it rinses away completely with water.  Unfortunately it doesn’t do a very good job at detangling my long, straight tresses, so I need to go through with a wide tooth comb, whilst still damp and remove the knots that have formed during the washing process.  :-<

After drying, my locks are super soft, shiny and not at all greasy.  There is no build-up coating my strands, so it doesn’t weigh it down, instead there is a distinctive bounce that enhances the illusion of fuller, thicker hair.  =D>  It doesn’t do much to control the frizzy flyaways, so an additional product is required for achieving sleek, straight strands.  After using this conditioner, along with the shampoo in the same range, for the past couple of weeks, I am noticing a slight improvement in the overall condition of my hair and scalp.  My scalp isn’t dry, flaky or irritable and my over processed tresses are nourished and feeling less fragile with a reduction in brittle, straggly ends and a general healthier-looking appearance.  :D

This conditioner compliments my fine hair, which has long been exposed to DIY hair colours and heat styling for the best part of my life.  I like the hair care qualities of Argan oil that, over time, help to treat and repair my hair.  :)  With the ability to restore life to my neglected mane, adding moisture and strength, as well as boosting elasticity.  The addition of vitamins and proteins protects against environmental assault and ensures all over brilliance and lustre.  ;;)  Some of the more popular brands of Argan oil, like Moroccanoil, are very costly,  :>  however Royal Moroccan is very affordable at a fraction of the price and ideal for consumers who want to experience the benefits but can’t justify such an expense.  ;)  Personally I am satisfied with the short term results of this shampoo/conditioner combination and I will continue its use in the hope of rejuvenating my hair further, which only time will tell.  The Royal Moroccan Hair Repair Conditioner would be suitable for anyone looking to actively repair damage and maintain optimum hair heath, utilising the benefits of Argan oil, minus the expense of over priced alternatives.    >:D<
I rated this conditioner with 4 stars out of 5.  (*)  (*)  (*)  (*)

Does this range sound like something you would be interested in trying?  :-/  Have you experienced any similar products before and if so what are your thoughts?  :-?  Would you be satisfied with a conditioner that does wonders for your hair and scalp but not so much for detangling, or does it need to do both?

Royal Moroccan Sulphate Free Hair Repair Shampoo

Hi guys! :-h   Effort #2 for the night coming right at ya, hehe!   ;))  This next post is about a hair care product from the brand Royal Moroccan, provided by Tammerly from Spoilt, to test drive and review for her blog.  I’d never heard of this brand before, although everyone has heard of the benefits of Argan oil, especially for hair, so it was something I was looking super forward to putting through its paces.  \:D/

The Royal Moroccan Sulphate Free Hair Repair Shampoo is presented in an 300ml amber coloured, see-through, plastic bottle, with a silver/chrome lid and pump-action dispenser.  The label, in contrast, is blue and has a stylish silver, orange and black design that would look attractive on display in the bathroom vanity.  ;;)  The packaging isn’t travel-friendly and even though the pump features a locking position, there is a possibility that it could still leak and get very messy, EEK!  :-SS  (Yes, this happened to me and it WAS indeed a big, fat, mess   ~X(  that took me AGES to clean up and attempt to salvage  :(  ).  The clear gel-like shampoo has a smooth, runny consistency to begin with but after contact it’s dense and slightly creamy in texture.  Blended with the fragrant goodness of plant based ingredients, including the widely popular Argan oil, I would describe the reflective scent as a floral, botanical aroma, which is also evident in the matching conditioner@};-  Whilst I don’t consider the smell unpleasant, it is quite pungent to begin with,  @-) but fortunately it isn’t so noticeable once the hair begins to dry and in fact over time I have even grown quite partial to it.  >:D<  I found that 4 – 5 pumps of shampoo provided a sufficient amount to massage right through my medium length hair.  Because the formula is sulphate free it doesn’t lather up into a big mound of bubbles, instead it gradually works into a lightweight foam, which effectively cleans my hair.  My scalp is sensitive and easily aggravated, particularly from harsh hair care products, this shampoo is quite mild and instead of upsetting my scalp it soothes and nurtures, making it perfect for frequent use.  =D>  Water rinses out every last trace of shampoo from my tresses, with no greasy residue left coating the strands.  It leaves my hair feeling nice and clean, but the only downside is the lengths are a bit mattered and knotty after shampooing (but I guess I can live with that, LOL   :))  ).

After following through with the conditioner in the same range and towel drying, the result is silky, soft, glossy locks that aren’t weighed down, stripped or parched.  Instead it imparts an incredible fullness and bounce that gives the impression of thickness to my naturally fine hair.  :-*  The shampoo and conditioner combination from this range has already improved the overall condition of my hair and scalp in the short space of just a few weeks.  I no longer have a dry, flaky scalp that is red and itchy and my over processed tresses are less fragile with the boost of nourishment helping to diminish the brittle, straggly ends and transform my locks leading into an overall healthier-looking appearance.  :D

My thin hair has been colour treated and exposed to regular environmental & chemical abuse as well as, general heat styling, all over the past couple of decades, so the damage is clearly evident.  [-X   :">  I have heard of the treating and repairing capabilities of Argan oil and hope that over time, this Argan oil enriched shampoo will perfectly compliment my personal hair care needs.  I look forward to restoring life to my neglected mane, enhancing its elasticity, whilst adding moisture and strength.  Packed with vitamins and proteins to protect against future assault, yet promoting all over lustre, vitality and brilliance.  <:-P   I’ve always wanted to experience the benefits of Argan oil, but popular brands like Moroccanoil were just too expensive, so I was thrilled to discover that Royal Moroccan is an affordable alternative at just a fraction of the cost.  :">  The short term results I achieved using this shampoo, along with the matching conditioner in the same range are impressive already, although I plan to continue the use over a longer time to determine the possibility of rejuvenating my tresses to an even greater extent.  The Royal Moroccan Sulphate Free Hair Repair Shampoo is suitable for anyone with damaged or coloured hair, looking for a restorative solution that will help keep your hair and scalp healthy and especially those who want to try the benefits of Argan oil, without succumbing to an expensive price tag.  B-)
I awarded this product with 4 stars out of 5.   (*)  (*)  (*)  (*)

Have you heard of this brand or been lucky enough to try it out?  :-?  If not I say hop to it, it’s a worthwhile investment and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed ;)  What about Argan oil, what are your thoughts, is it 'all that' or……?

Fudge Daily Mint Conditioner

Howdy folks,  :-h   just me again!  I have a dry scalp and fairly oily hair, so buying suitable hair care products can be quite a dilemma.  ~X(  Not to mention, my scalp is also very sensitive and reacts to various ingredients in products, so finding products with the right balance that cater for my hair and scalp concerns is usually tricky.  :-L   I generally like hair care products that are enriched with essential oils and plant extracts and do my best to avoid the majority of supermarket or no frills brands because based on my own experience the products with the cheaper ingredients on board generally exacerbate my scalp leaving it red, itchy and beginning to flake.  :(  When I have the chance to try products that help both my hair and my scalp I am keen to put it through its paces.  >:/  Tammerly from Spoilt beauty blog kindly offered me the Fudge Daily Mint Conditioner to try and review.  Here is the link to that review and this is what I thought:

The Fudge Daily Mint Conditioner comes in a white 300ml plastic bottle with a grey flip-top lid.  It’s adorned with a label printed in a grey, orange and silver design that looks modern and has an urban appeal to it.  The consistency is ultra thick and because of that, it’s a bit of an effort to squeeze and shake a decent-sized blob of product from the bottle.  The white conditioner is silky and velvet-like with a rich, creamy texture, which resembles something similar to whipped butter.  The formula boasts a delightfully uplifting minty fragrance that stimulates my mind and enhances my mood, making me more alert, energised and rejuvenated.  Despite the thickness, the non-greasy conditioner is easy to distribute throughout my strands, from root to tip, using the finger comb method, while it gets straight to work eliminating any tangles and knots.  During this process, I also spend a minute or so massaging my scalp to clear build-up, boost circulation and encourage healthy hair growth (this is also extremely relaxing and a great way to relieve tension  :)>-  ) before concentrating on the more needy ends.  It rinses off with warm water and even while still wet, my hair feels instantly softer and smoother, but the best part is experiencing the soothing, tingly sensation on my scalp.  :D

After drying, my locks are left soft, nourished, super shiny and more manageable, without being weighed down.  It also helps banish my frizzy flyaways, so my locks are sleek, smooth and glossy.  For hours after washing my scalp remains cool and feeling refreshed, while my tresses are infused with that gorgeous minty aroma that screams clean.  The additional benefits of this conditioner, such as the anti-ageing properties, strengthening and restoring abilities, along with scalp care and maintenance are all relevant to my hair care needs, whilst the free radical protection against heat styling, UV and environmental assault is a positive advantage.  Maintaining a healthy scalp is important to me because when my scalp is in good condition, it yields greater results for my hair.  This conditioner has worked wonders at alleviating the irritation associated with my dry, itchy, sometimes flaky scalp and because I spend lots of time outdoors, it’s great to have peace of mind that my hair is safeguarded from the elements.   :x   Living in the topics, the heat and humidity wreaks havoc on my mane and proves to be an ongoing challenge, so I’m especially looking forward to incorporating this conditioner to my hair care routine during summer to sustain not only the benefits, but the cool, invigorating, experience that I enjoy every single wash.  :-*

Since I started using this conditioner, I have seen a noticeable improvement in the strength, texture and overall appearance of my strands, with the increased shine clearly evident.  It soothes my scalp, imparts additional hydration to my hair, particularly to the frazzled looking ends, whilst repairing existing damage. Featuring de-stressing and detoxifying capabilities this conditioner is guaranteed to leave me, my hair and my scalp feeling completely replenished and smelling sensational.  <:-P   I would classify the minty fragrance as a unisex scent, therefore, I recommend the Fudge Daily Mint Conditioner to both male and female of any age, even though it’s ideally more suited to an older audience or those with dry coloured or chemically treated, hair that is prone to frizz and breakage or tresses that are just generally difficult to manage.  It’s mild and gentle enough to use on a daily basis and I believe it’s the perfect way to kick-start your day, with an energising lift that will care for your hair.  \:D/

I can’t fault this conditioner so I think it deserves a rating of 5 stars out of 5,  (*)  (*)  (*)  (*)  (*)  brilliant!

Have you tried a cooling minty style hair care product yet??  :-?  If not, you don’t know what your missing out on, it feels remarkable and is just what the doctor ordered for our tropical climate!  Comment below with your thoughts.  ;)

KMS Free Shape Hot Flex Spray

Yo all!  :-h   My hair is dead straight and baby fine, so normally I don’t need to rely on a straightening iron, however for special occasions or if I’m going out on the town, I use my straightener to keep my strands looking smooth, sleek and to eliminate frizz and pesky flyaways.  :-*   I do tend to blow-dry my mop quite often though, particularly in the cooler months, rather than letting it dry naturally.  Because I’ve coloured my tresses constantly for the past 20 odd years, it’s already quite fragile,  #-o  so I need to be cautious about the abuse that can occur from using heat styling products, therefore I always ensure that a heat protectant product features as a religious step in my hair care maintenance routine, guaranteeing optimal hair health.  ;)  I am also particular when it comes to choosing which product to use, as my mane is naturally oily and I don’t want to exasperate the problem with sprays or serums that leave my locks looking limp and greasy.   :-O   Finding the most suitable hair care all comes down to trial and error for me, so when Tammerly  sent me the KMS Free Shape Hot Flex Spray to trial for her beauty website Spoilt, which is linked here, I was thrilled to consent.  Here is my review:   ;;)

The KMS Free Shape Hot Flex Spray is a heat protection product, suitable for all hair types, that creates a protective barrier to insulate my locks and prevent thermal damage.  It comes in a hot pink pump-action spray bottle (I tried the mini, travel sized version) adorned with black and mint-green lettering.  I apply about three pumps of the weightless formula directly onto my towel-dried strands before heat styling and based on trial and error, that amount is sufficient to cater for my medium length mane.   I have also tried using it directly on already dried hair, which as a result becomes more obedient, while it helps to lock in the appearance of my preferred hairdo.  The indulgent, fine mist smells delightfully sweet, lingering to create a multi-sensory experience that leaves my tresses feeling refreshed and smelling delectable for hours.  @};-   As well as defending my mop against thermal assault, it safeguards from the ravages of humidity that is a constantly battle living here in the tropics.  <:-P  Whist maintaining long-lasting style, unlike a hairspray, it doesn’t provide ample hold, so there is no hard, crunchy stiffness to worry about.  #:-S   The medium resistance allows plenty of flexibility and movement, so my locks look and feel natural and soft to touch.  The spray doesn’t transfer any sticky residue or a coating of oily film; instead it’s completely non-greasy.  As a plus, I was thrilled when I discovered that by applying this product prior to heat styling, the drying time is considerably quicker than normal.  :)

Since I’ve been using the KMS Free Shape Hot Flex Spray, the softness of my hair has intensified and it’s now more manageable.  :x   It preps my hairdo to stay in place and extends the life of the style for a sleek, polished look, right up until the next wash.  By enhancing my strands with a silky smooth, ultra shiny finish that is completely relaxed, yet lightly textured, it creates the impression of increased body, promoting extra volume and plumping up my usually limp tresses.  It’s a product that simply tames my mane so styling is a breeze and the end result looks like I’ve been treated with a professional salon blow-dry.  :D  For a bit of extra oomph, it’s advised to spritz the mist into sections of the hair, which encourages maximum shaping and even better control.  Despite the weather conditions, my mop now resists frizzy flyaways, particularly in the warmer weather and I feel confident because my locks are shielded against the stress caused by frequent heat styling and environmental aggressors.  The anti-break technology reflects heat, preventing split ends and moisture loss by repairing and replenishing my hair, keeping it healthy, strong and conditioned.  B-)

I am happy with the performance of the KMS Free Shape Hot Flex Spray.  It has proven its ability to protect against thermal damage, whilst optimising the effectiveness of various heat styling tools.  It instantly transforms my dull, drab locks into perfect, frizz-free, pencil-straight tresses, with improved definition and a lustrous, glossy finish, minus any annoying build-up.  I am rating this product with 4.5 stars out of 5  (*)  (*)  (*)  (*)  & ½  (*)  because it allows me to achieve my desired look that lasts the distance, with minimal effort.

Do you use a heat protector of some shape of form when styling your locks?  :-/  Do you prefer a multi-tasker with additional benefits and if so what would you personally look for in a heat protector product?  :-?  Share your thoughts in the comments section   :)

L’Oreal Professionnel Mythic Oil - Review

Outer Packaging
I recently received the Mythic Oil to trial from L’Oreal Professionnel and have given it a good work out over the past four weeks, so I decided it might be worthwhile sharing my appraisal.  ;)  This low-down will hopefully be useful for my fellow fine-haired beauties, who no doubt, would relate to the dilemma of finding suitable hair care products that don’t weigh down those ultra thin tresses, which tend to stick to your head (Eww, not a good look  L-)  ).  It can also get all greasy from the build-up, spurring the volume to deplete; therefore, your hair just looks flat and awfully lank. :-/

Not only is my hair baby fine, the frustrating thing is it’s also fairly oily (Arrrghhh, Yep blessed with oily skin and oily hair too, nooo why me!!  ~X(  ).  Anyway, after spending a lifetime of dying my mop in accordance with every shade under the rainbow, from platinum blonde, to red, to blue black and various colours in between, as a result the ends are bit frazzled and parched.  Meanwhile, the roots and upper lengths need to be ‘handled with care’, as this area gets oily, particularly if I have used unsuitable hair care products.  :-/   My dead straight, fine, oily/dry combination hair is currently a couple of inches longer than my shoulders, which after washing, if left to dry naturally, with no styling products, ends up looking like I just stuck my finger in a power socket,  EEK!  :-O  Yes, static flyaway hair is very common for those of us with fine, straight hair, which is why serums, oils and leave-in treatments are ideal…..IF they are not to heavy and rich!  :-S  Luckily, it’s usually pretty easy to determine when a product is all wrong, as makes my hair all limp, lifeless and greasy within just a few hours of application, these products need to be avoided like the plague, LOL!  [-X

Inner Bottle
I was a big fan of Moroccanoil Original Oil Treatment when it first became popular, even though one upon a time if anyone had suggested putting oil in my oily hair I would have looked at them like they had sworn or cursed at me  /:)  Needless to say, I have since learned that in most cases oil actually combats oil, so as long as it’s not too heavy or rich then it won’t exasperate the oiliness. #:-S  Initially I loved everything about the Moroccanoil, (well maybe everything other than the hefty price tag) but after using it for a period of time, I found that teamed with my regular hair care products, it was a bit much and would wind up getting weighed down and contributing to excess build-up, so my mane resembled an oil slick. :(  Disappointed, I ended up swapping the bottle and decided that the Moroccanoil Light Oil Treatment might be more suitable, however because it’s so exy, I still have not gotten around to trying it as of yet. :-"

Then, along comes the Mythic Oil by L’Oreal Professionnel, basically the same idea, for a fraction of the price (Only $38 for 125ml compared to $55 for 100ml of Moroccanoil).  Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t say it’s a dupe or anything, as they are based on different ingredients, yet, both products are similar in the idea that they are treatment oils, which promote healthy, smooth, shiny, luscious locks.  ;)  Having put the Mythic Oil to the ultimate test, I have come to the conclusion that it’s not only better value, price wise, it’s also ideal for those of us who have fine and/or oily hair types, especially if you find similar treatments unsatisfactory.  While kinder to the wallet, it’s by no means a poor relation, as it doesn’t compromise on quality or performance and lives up to its claims.  =D>  Read on to find out more….

Pump-Style Distributor
What is Mythic Oil exactly?

Well, the L’Oreal Professionnel website claims:

Precious Ingredients

A blend of avocado and grape seed oil to nourish, protect and add shine to all hair types

Spectacular Results for daily use

Legendary shine
Deep nourishment
Increased suppleness
Easier blow-dry
Long-lasting anti-frizz protection

First Impressions:

Upon inspection of the classy, deluxe packaging, I must admit, the Mythic Oil, presented in a sleek, white box embossed with gold designs and black print, looked extremely opulent and more expensive than it actually is.  The inner pump-style bottle is just as fancy, while at the same time, practical, made of transparent gold/amber coloured plastic, rather than glass to avoid breakage/wastage.  The oil itself is clear, refined and utterly lightweight, with a very slippery, runny consistency and a silky texture that is velvety to touch, reminding me of how a silicone-based primer feels against my skin.  To begin with, I though the scent was not particularly appealing, with a sweet, floral aroma,  @};-  something that I would normally associate with headaches, as I find it’s quite artificial-like and overbearing up front.  I was pleasantly surprised though, because somehow after a minute or two, the intensity of the fragrance literally tones-right down and magically transforms into a scent that is entirely delicate, subtle and really, really, yummy.  ;;)  It’s so good in fact and mild enough that I am more than happy to sniff away at it all day, having confidence that the delightful perfume won’t assault my senses or trigger a negative reaction.   B-)

The Experience:

Finished look - Flash
The Mythic Oil is perfect for either wet or dry hair and I have effectively used it both ways with impressive results.  I only need one small pump of oil, which I warm up in my hands before distributing through the lower strands of my hair.  I always avoid the scalp and already oily roots, so by focusing only on the ends, the nourishing goodness is working where it’s needed most.  I apply it to towel-dried hair, either as a protective treatment prior to heat styling or, otherwise I just let it dry naturally.  Regardless of how I choose to style my hair, the outcome is still remarkable, even after one use.

My dry, thirsty ends seem to drink this oil up like nobodies business, as it completely disappears, with no greasy residue and due to the weightless formula, once it’s absorbed I can’t feel it at all.  Upon drying, my tresses are super soft and the instant luminous shine-enhancing effect is clearly evident.  Not only that, there is no hint of the usual frizzy, flyaways, instead I am sporting a smooth, sleek mane and those previously ‘straw-like’ ends seem healthier, well nurtured and adequately conditioned.  :)  When I don’t have time to wash, I apply the oil straight on my dry locks and it works a charm for greater styling support and manageability.  By encouraging a positive development to my thin, weak stands, along with some additional oomph that naturally plumps my hair, it’s left noticeably smoother and softer with better texture, flexibility and an overall burst of shine.  (*)

Final Thoughts:

Sleek pony - No Flash
Sleek pony - Flash
Since I begun using this product, the physical health and fitness of my hair has improved tenfold.   It has already revived the previously damaged ends; therefore, the strands are now silky soft to touch and ultra smooth and glossy from root to tip.  It has tamed the static flyaways, whilst nourishing the dryness and restoring life to my tired, neglected locks to pave the way for naturally healthy, beautiful-looking hair.  After this test drive, I can honestly say, the Mythic Oil has well and truly earned a permanent home in my regular hair care routine.  This is the oily/fine hair care solution I have been searching for, it’s the perfect all-in-one, multi-tasking miracle worker that not only combats ‘bad hair days’, it also delivers that ‘just stepped out of the salon’ look, all from the comfort of my own home.  Fine-haired beauties, it’s time to rejoice,  <:-P  the Mythic Oil  by L’Oreal Professionnel will change the way you care for your mop, eliminating ‘nightmare hair’ once and for all :)  It gets top marks from me, it’s a sure-fire winner!!!

Have you tried one of the ever popular hair treatment oils?  If so, share your thoughts. Did it meet your expectations or are you still hunting for something better?  :-?  If not, is there any that take your fancy and are possibly styling up on your wishlist as we speak?  Do tell! :D
