Ultraderm ~ U can turn back time

Hi beauty lovers everywhere! I was beyond excited when Ultraderm, in conjunction with Facial Co. asked me to test drive some of their skin care products and then share my thoughts with you all on the experience. 

Ultraderm is an Australian skin care company, with an intensive collection of active, result-driven skin care products to suit all skin types.  Enriched with high quality ingredients, Ultraderm is a professional skin care range that offers both corrective and preventive solutions to target a variety of skin concerns including premature ageing, pigmentation, acne and rosacea.    

Here is a run-down on the products I tried:

Skin Renew Cleanser

Highly effective for dull, lifeless, problem or ageing skin and is on par, if not better than other well-known AHA cleansers!

The Skin Renew Cleanser has the same stylish and attractive packaging seen throughout the Ultraderm range and comes in a generous 200ml-sized white, squeezable tube. It’s has a neutral, non-offensive fragrance and I just apply a tiny amount of the clear, gel-like formula to my damp skin and it easily works into a generous foam. The AHA and BHA complex helps to provide the most thorough, deep-pore cleanse that effortlessly removes all traces of my daily make-up, dirt, oils, surface debris and impurities, while sloughing away dead, dulling skin cells, but is also kind enough that it doesn’t upset my sensitive skin. After rinsing off, my skin feels refreshed and ultra clean, without any greasy residue or tightness. I prefer to use this cleanser at night when my skin needs a better cleanse and after having used for over a month now, I can see a visible improvement in the texture and tone, with a smoother, more luminous and refined complexion with fewer blackheads.

TIP: For a super boost, I like to apply a thin layer of this cleanser onto my clean, dry face, then leave for approximately 1 - 2 minutes, as a mini-mask, to let the active ingredients penetrate deeply and to remove stubborn congestion and  oils, before adding water and cleansing as normal.

Skin Karma Cleanser 

A gentle, hydrating cleanser for everyone and anyone that will keep skin cool, calm and collective! 

The moisturising Skin Karma Cleanser features the familiar packaging seen across the Ultraderm range, which is modern and stylish and is presented in a generous 200ml-sized white, squeezable tube. The cleanser is pearlescent white in colour, boasting an almost balm-like consistency that is rich, creamy and non-foaming, with a silky texture.  I’m not overly fussed on the fragrance, even though it’s quite a neutral scent and definitely not over powering, but that is only a personal preference and doesn’t alter my impression on the overall quality or effectiveness of the product.  I apply it directly onto my dry face using damp fingers and whilst massaging gently, distribute it evenly over my face, neck and décolleté, before rinsing off with warm water and a soft face cloth. It adequately cleans my skin, removing dirt, grime and excess sebum without stripping or leaving any greasy residue on my sensitive skin.  Instead, after using regularly for the past 4+ weeks, my complexion is smoother, softer and brighter whilst remaining calm, comfortable, nourished and more balanced.  I mostly use this cleanser of a morning when a gentle and hydrating formula is better suited for my needs, however it is also the ideal companion to team with my cleansing brush some nights, so it perfectly compliments my existing skin care routine.

Skin Karma Hydration Toner 

A beautiful facial mist to compliment my daily skin care regime or perfect for an instant ‘pick-me-up’  anytime, anywhere!

Boasting the modern, ultra stylish packaging featured across the Ultraderm range, the Skin Karma Hydration Toner has a white 125ml-sized spray bottle for convenience and ease of application. The non-drying formula has a delicate, uplifting fragrance and that I use after cleansing, or whenever I need a hydrating boost throughout the day.  I simply spritz the solution all over my face and neck areas and gently press into my skin using the tips of my fingers.  The immediate result is a beautifully refreshed, nourished skin, with no oily or tacky remnants left on the surface.  It’s ideal for the humid conditions here in FNQ and when it’s gets too hot, as a quick spritz definitely revives my complexion by providing cooling relief and helping to calm red, flushed skin, while balancing the pH, a benefit that’s a bonus for my sensitive, oily skin.  Using this toner also prepares my skin to receive and absorb other skin care products and enhances their effectiveness too.  Over time, I’ve noticed an increased improvement in the tone and texture of my skin, which is feeling softer and smoother to touch, whilst my complexion is generally more radiant.

Tip:  Can be used as a regular toner by spritzing directly onto a cotton pad to remove any cleansing residues or surface debris from skin.

Skin Karma Moisturiser

Problem skin sufferers rejoice, it does it all: supports, protects and heals the skin, as it locks in moisture!

The simple, fuss-free Skin Karma Moisturiser is housed in the stylish and visually appealing packaging that is represented by every product in the Ultraderm range, with the 100ml-sized white, squeezy tube adorned with an eye-catching silver-chrome design and print.  The rich, emollient lotion is thick, creamy and white in colour, with little to no scent and despite the richness, it’s fortunately super gentle and lightweight, making the formulation ideal to suit both my oily and sensitive skin concerns.  To apply, I warm a small amount of cream in my fingers before carefully massaging it all over my face, neck and décolleté.  It absorbs rapidly leaving my skin so soft and smooth with a non-greasy, slightly dewy finish.  This moisturiser is perfect to use whenever my skin gets stressed out, as it alleviates discomfort, while reducing redness and inflammation, making it a ‘must-have’ SOS in case of beauty emergencies.  Armed with this protecting moisturiser during the past month, my skin has been kept calm and nourished, whilst facial redness and blotchy patches have been nil and void, for a more uniform tone and a complexion that feels firmer, stronger and healthier.

Daily Protector Moisturiser 30+ SPF

Dual function physical and chemical SPF Moisturiser that is super kind and cares for my skin!

Like all the products featured throughout the Ultraderm range, the Daily Protector Moisturiser with SPF 30+ is presented in classy, modern packaging, with a 100gm white, squeezable tube that looks great on my vanity.  I’ve always had trouble finding an SPF moisturiser that suits my oily skin needs and am thrilled to have finally found a zinc based formula that offers a physical sun protection barrier as well as the chemical variety.  The cream is rich and super thick, but surprisingly very lightweight in texture and has a subtle aroma that initially smells somewhat like sunscreen, however it doesn’t linger once applied and absorbs and dries quickly to create a completely non-greasy finish.  It also has the added advantage of soothing, calming properties, so it’s gentle enough for even the most sensitive complexions and the benefits of zinc help to promote and achieve optimal skin health with extra comfort.  The combination moisturiser, antioxidant and broad spectrum sunscreen replenishes my skin and is great to use in the mornings when I know I’m going to be out and about or spending time outdoors and need protection to prevent sunburn or environmental damage, which leads to premature ageing.  Over the past four weeks, my skin has noticeably improved in strength and definitely looks more luminous and healthy in appearance.

Face & Body Polishing Cream

A revitalising exfoliator to energise the skin and brighten dull, lacklustre complexions!

The Face & Body Polishing Cream is presented in the same contemporary and stylish packaging showcased across the entire Ultraderm range, with a generous 200ml-sized squeezy, white tube, distinguished with its silver-chrome logo and print.  The peach coloured formula has a pearlesent sheen and is thick with a butter-like consistency, which is infused with an array of delicate, non-abrasive, ultra fine exfoliating beads.  I absolutely adore the exhilarating scent, which smells like a blend of freshly picked bush lemons and mandarins that instantly stimulates the senses and leaves my skin feeling invigorated.  The combination chemical and manual exfoliant effectively provides a thorough, deep-down cleanse to slough away dead surface cells, illuminate impurities and clear congested pores, without causing aggravation to my sensitive skin or making it red and dry.  I’ve successfully used this polish on both my face and body with impressive results.  I like to exfoliate my face once a week and I’ve noticed that afterwards my complexion is instantly softer and smoother with an all over healthy glow.  It also improves my shaving experience when I exfoliate my legs beforehand, keeping the hair follicles clear and unrestricted to prevent pesky ingrowns or razor rash.

Tip: Tackle unsightly body pimples or acne with regular weekly use of this exfoliator, which will keep pores free of oil, bacteria or impurities that can clog up pores as a result of normal perspiration.

Dual Treatment Mask - 15% Glycolic & Lactic Acid

A maximum effect treatment mask that is highly potent and works fast to pack an almighty punch, making it the perfect pre-requisite for a special occasion or whenever my skin needs a radiance boost! 

With the distinctive packaging prominent throughout the Ultraderm range, the Dual Treatment Mask looks chick and stylish, presented in a white 100 ml-sized, soft, squeezy tube inscribed with a silver-chrome design.  The thick, silky, pearlesent formula has the consistency of a rich, creamy dessert and is lightly fragranced with a scent that is equally decadent and pleasurable to the senses.  A small amount is all I need to distribute an even layer over my face, which sits on my skin in a thin veil, while I wait for 10 minutes as it works it’s magic.  As soon as it’s applied it stars tingling…not to the point that it’s uncomfortable though, but just enough that I know all the goodness of the active ingredients are penetrating my skin, but after a couple of minutes that sensation subsides and decreases in intensity with each use thereafter.  Fortunately, I am a seasoned user of performance ingredients such as AHA’s and BHA’s and even though my skin is sensitive, it’s developed a tolerance, so as a result, I’ve not experienced any aggravation to my skin, however anyone with sensitivity issues, should patch-test this mask before using for the first time.  It rinses off easily with luke-warm water and the effects are visible immediately, with my complexion looking smoother, softer clearer, plumper and more even, with an all over bright, luminous glow.

TIP: BEWARE – Don’t apply to broken skin such as a popped pimple, as I quickly discovered it really bites!

Skin Renew Moisturiser with Tri-Peptide

Compliments my anti-ageing routine and has become my PM moisturiser of choice!

The Skin Renew Moisturiser has stylish and attractive packaging, like all of the products featured in the Ultraderm range and comes in a generous 200ml-sized white, squeezable tube.  The highly emollient lotion is thick, rich and creamy, with a white, silky texture that is virtually unscented.  I mostly use this moisturiser at night time, because it helps refine my complexion and I love that it’s super lightweight, quick to absorb and provides lasting hydration, without making my oily skin greasy.  Since I’ve been using this moisturiser, my skin is softer and smoother, more evenly toned, plumper, firmer and literally glowing with health and vitality.

All in One Balm SPF 15+  

To put it simply, with skin care properties, awesome coverage & protection, this 5-in-1 product really has it ALL!

The multitasking All In One Balm comes in beautiful packaging that is ultra stylish and synonymous throughout the Ultraderm range and has a sleek black and white 30ml pump-action tube adorned with silver-chrome print.  The zinc enriched formula has a thick, creamy consistency, but is weightless and a just small amount blends effortlessly over my whole face, drying fast and leaving a non-greasy, matte-like finish that lasts the distance.  The coverage is brilliant and it’s the perfect alternative to a foundation without compromising the results, easily disguising all my flaws and imperfection for a flawless, but natural look.  I love, love, love this, it has become my favourite Ultraderm product, with the ability to effectively moisturise, prime, cover, enhance and protect.  I can honestly say since I’ve been using this practically every morning for over a month, that it’s even better than any other alphabet cream or tinted moisturiser I’ve previously tried.  Not only does it make my skin look fabulous, but it also improves the overall condition of my skin, keeping it free of breakouts and encouraging a clear, healthy complexion.

Skin Renew Cleansing Brush 

Not a gimmicky gadget, this cleansing brush really does work and if used consistantly ‘u can turn back time’ just like they claim!

Presented in a clear plastic box and nursed in a cradle-like base, the Ultraderm Skin Renew Cleansing Brush is white in colour and looks chick and modern, with a teal blue décor around the middle, which would look stylish in any bathroom.  With the ability to clean skin more thoroughly than a cleanser alone, the gentle sonic vibration of this battery operated devise works deep into the pores to clear congestion.  The bristles are super soft and very dense to feel like the ultimate in pampering as I work it all over my skin.  I like to use it with a gentle creamy cleanser, such as the Skin Karma Cleanser and it perfectly compliments my existing skin care routine, where I opt to cleanse with a facial brush every second night and alternate with the AHA, BHA Skin Renew Cleanser on every other night to avoid overdoing it.  I am loving this brush even more than my Clarisonic, because it’s so streamline and easy to manoeuvre.  Over time, with regular use, it’s helped to visibly improve the appearance of enlarged pores and keeps blackheads and breakouts at bay, enhancing the tone and texture, reducing excess oil production and leaving my skin feeling firm and resilient.

TIP: Because it’s compact and battery operated this facial brush is the ideal travel companion and is also brilliant for those who are doing their bit to save electricity usage.

Pure Therapy by Purist - Daily Restore Face Moist

Hey there one more time peeps!  :-h   This will be the last post of this latest batch, so hope ya’ll don’t mind being bombarded overtime when I do get around to updating my blog each month.  :-@  ;)  I suffer from sensitive skin problems, making it randomly  prone to redness, itching and discomfort and when this occurs my normal moisturisers either aggravate the symptoms further, whilst specialty pharmaceutical products turns my already oily skin into a big greasy mess, causing blocked pores and triggering breakouts, or even worse strips my skins natural oils leaving it parched and uncomfortable . :(  Until now my only option is to avoid everything until the irritation subsides, but unfortunately neglecting my skin like that wipes out all the hard work I’ve put in maintaining a diligent skin care regime that targets my skin concerns, leaving me back at square one.  :-L   So, when Tammerly the brains (and beauty) behind Spoilt blog sent me out a moisturiser from a newly released label that is suitable for sensitive skin, I was keen to start the trial.  Here is my review based on that experience.  :)

Pure Therapy is a new range brought to us by The Purist Company, an Australian manufacturer of natural, safe and effective personal care products.  Purist is also the parent company the highly acclaimed A’kin Skincare and Alchemy Haircare brands.  Recommended by doctors and hospitals, the clinically proven Pure Therapy line-up, is free from parabens, sulphates, ethoxylated emulsifiers, artificial colours and animal derivatives.  >:D<  Pure Therapy Daily Restore Face Moist is infused with vitamins and botanicals, including colloidal oatmeal, which helps soothe and calm the skin and offers essential relief to sensitivity problems or symptoms like redness and irritation.  #:-S  The intensely moisturising formula improves the skins ability to retain moisture and strengthens the barrier function for long-lasting hydration, whilst creating a protective shield against dryness and external aggressors.  It provides immediate respite for vulnerable skin, leaving it feeling smooth, soft and supple.  The gentle blend is even suitable for those who suffer from Eczema, Psoriasis and Contact Dermatitis.  \:D/

Presented in a slimline, squeezable tube, the plainly packaged moisturiser doesn’t appear too fancy in the looks department, yet the simple design boasts an appropriate nature-inspired colour scheme, which is featured throughout the range and complimentary to the whole ‘pure’ concept. The tube has a grey oval twist-off lid that only needs one turn to open and remove and then simply reverse the action to close.  With that in mind, the lid doesn’t seem to secure firmly on the tube, therefore I wouldn’t suggest popping it in your bag during transit, or you might end up with a big fat mess, EEK!.   :-S

The Pure Therapy Daily Restore Face Moist is rich and emollient with a thick creamy texture. The pale yellow coloured moisturiser is velvety smooth and silky, but due to the density, I was initially concerned it was going to be too heavy or greasy and would be likely to cause congestion.  A pea-sized amount of cream is ample to spread onto my whole face and neck, absorbing well, like a drink for my thirsty skin.  It does leave a sticky/tacky residue once applied, but fortunately that dries quickly to then reveal softer, plumper-looking skin.  ;;)  The product claims to be fragrance free, however there is a distinct oatmeal smell that’s quite comforting, although the scent doesn’t linger once transferred to the skin.  The finish is semi-matte and slightly dewy, but has a lightweight, non-greasy feel that allows my skin to breathe and avoid clogged pores or breakouts.  During the day, my oily skin is usually prone to developing a midday shine, so powder and blotting papers are basically necessities.  Because this moisturiser has the staying power to last the distance and no greasiness, it makes a great base under makeup, and hence I can finally ditch those frequent touch-ups to mop up excess oil.  Instead, I am revelling in a shine-free complexion.  <:-P

I’ve been using the Pure Therapy Daily Restore Face Moist twice daily and have to admit, I’m totally smitten with the results.  :x   It has definitely exceeded my expectations and I’m thrilled that it’s affordable, readily available and it actually does work.  I can now confidently hydrate my skin without the fear that after a few hours, my face will start resembling something that hails from a deep fryer.  :D  In fact, since I started using this moisturiser, a month ago, I have noticed a considerable improvement in the natural pH of my skin, which is maintaining better balance, thereby reducing excess oil production.  Additionally, by alleviating any skin sensitivity issues as they occur, my skin tone has evened out, prompting a uniform complexion, so that facial redness and blotchiness are a thing of the past.  =D>  I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Pure Therapy Daily Restore Face Moist to anyone, especially sufferers of problem skin, who want a heavy-duty, healing and protecting cream that locks in moisture and alleviates discomfort.  The long lasting defence keeps skin resistant to external irritants, ensuring it remains calm, soft and fully replenished.  This quick-fix beauty aid is a handy addition to any skin care arsenal.  O:-)

I am awarding this moisturiser with 4.5 out of 5 stars, loosing only ½ a star because of the unsecure lid.  (*)  (*)  (*)  (*) & ½  (*)

Sukin Facial Moisturiser

Howdy my friends!  :-h   I’m rather fond of natural skin care products, which based on my own experience, I’ve discovered can be equally effective as many commercial and professional brands, it just depends on the right blend of ingredients and how they respond to individual skin types.  I’m sure you’re all aware though, of the labelling issues, where brands that are named ‘natural’ and ‘organic’, yet you’d be lucky to find even a fraction of natural ingredients in their products.  :-O   It pretty much comes down to research and always checking the labels and ingredients lists first.  Whilst we all know it’s safe to say that actual ‘certified’ organic brands must follow strict international standards and ARE completely free of synthetics and toxins.  However, many ‘certified’ organic brands are ridiculously expensive, understandably so, considering they cost heaps more to develop, but that’s not to say their aren’t some pretty decent natural and botanical brands out there, which aren’t ‘certified’ as such, hence are also more affordable.  ;)  Natural and botanical brands are still committed to producing safe, natural, affordable skin care products, using only pure ingredients and are free of .harsh chemicals, so they are more appealing to consumers who prefer to avoid nasties where possible.  :D

Tammerly the talented author of Spoilt beauty blog sent me out the Sukin Facial Moisturiser to trial and review for her blog.  The review is linked to her site here.  Sukin is an Australian, environmentally friendly natural skin care brand that is a bit confusing at first glance, due to their website, ‘sukinorganics’ giving the impression of an ‘organic’ product range.  :-/  Don’t let the name fool you; Sukin is NOT ‘certified’ organic,   :-S   yet it’s a brand that IS void of artificial and synthetic ingredients, parabens, mineral oils and other nasty chemicals.  :">  The Sukin line-up contains lots of skin friendly, natural ingredients, formulated with active botanicals and essential oils.  Sukin Facial Moisturiser is deeply hydrating and enriched with a cocktail of botanical extracts like Aloe Vera, Horsetail, Nettle and Burdock for their skin calming benefits, rose hip that is rich in antioxidants and boasts healing properties, along with Wheat Germ, Jojoba and Avocado Oils, harmonising to promote a healthy, youthful, more radiant complexion.  :)

The moisturiser is packaged in an environmentally friendly, recyclable, amber coloured, 125ml pump-action bottle.  The label is simple and boasts a green leaf and carbon neutral product symbol that is recognisable across the entire Sukin range.  I like that I can see through the plastic bottle to determine the content level and the pump is easy to control, allowing me to dispense as much or as little product as needed, depending on how much pressure I apply during the press.  Unfortunately the bottle is not suitable for travelling, because even though the pump can be twisted into a lock position and that is only after a full pump, while pressed right down against the lid (that in my opinion is quite wasteful if you don’t need a full pump prior to locking) it’s still not particularly travel friendly, with the possibility that it could easily become open and leak or spill during transit.  #-o

The texture of this moisturiser is like a velvety cream and is white in colour with a thin consistency that I would describe as being more of a lightweight, lotion than a cream.  The distinct, sweet herbal scent was first thing I noticed when I used this cream for the first time and I was worried that it would trigger my fragrance sensitivity, as I normally avoid using products that are too scented on my face, even when they are natural.  :-S   Fortunately the fragrance disappears soon after applying, so I needn’t have worried and in fact the fragrance has since grown on me and I now look forward to experiencing the effects of the relaxing, uplifting aroma as it stimulates my senses for an overall feeling of wellbeing.   \:D/  I gently massage a pea-sized amount of moisturiser onto my face and neck, which then absorbs instantly without trace of sticky residue.  The non-greasy formula leaves my skin feel smooth, soft and comfortable, making it a great base to use under makeup.  ;;)

I have oily skin that is fussy when it comes to moisturisers because they wind up being too rich or heavy and end up making my face all greasy within hours of application.  Even moisturisers that claim to be matte or are formulated especially for oily skin can cause issues, so finding a suitable daily moisturiser has always been a dilemma.  The Sukin Facial Moisturiser delivers and maintains efficient hydration so my skin is nourished and yet doesn’t develop into an oily surface film that turns my face all shiny during the day.  <:-P   I must say this was a pleasant surprise, although I’m yet to put it to the test during a humid, summer day, I am thrilled with its performance so far.  I’ve not suffered any adverse reactions from the natural ingredients and it hasn't caused any congestion or breakouts.  In fact, my skin has continued to remain clear and calm and I’m now sporting a healthy-looking glow rather than the pesky oil slick I previously had to contend with.   =D>  I am rating this moisturiser with 3.5 stars out of 5,   (*)  (*)  (*)  & ½  (*)  because, in addition to the minor cons I’ve already mentioned, I usually prefer my daytime moisturiser to also include some form of sun protection, but hey, for under $10 you can’t expect to have it all.  The price is a complete steal and I have not seen a natural brand as cheap as this anywhere before.  It’s a safe, affordable option for those who want to get on-board the more natural skin care bandwagon but can’t justify the expensive of buying ‘certified’ brands.   :)   I would consider purchasing the Sukin Facial Moisturiser in the future, as it complements my oily skin and I’m happy enough with the immediate results.

Has anyone tried Sukin before, if so what are your thoughts?  Have you ever felt cheated when purchasing a brand or product that you expected was ALL natural or organic, because of the confusion created by our relaxed labelling laws?  :-?  I know I have, several times in fact, until I learnt how to check ingredients and understand a bit more about certification.  I am not in any way a brand snob and have used several natural and botanical products that have been amazing, even though they were not certified.  Can you think of any brands that are misleading by their names or claims, list them in the comments section below?

Clinique Deep Comfort Body Butter

Hello, hello!  :-h  This time I’m on the topic of body butters!  I don’t know about you all, but I simply love love love  :x  :x  :x  a rich, luxurious, deeply nourishing body butter slathered all over my bod, from my neck down to my tootsies, as a special pampering treat after showering.  There is something especially satisfying about massaging my body with an intensive, decadently creamy, all over moisturiser that melts upon contact and leaves my skin feeling amazingly smooth, soft and entirely conditioned. Ahh pure bliss!  ;;)  I was offered the Clinique Deep Comfort Body Butter to test drive and review by Tammerly from Spoilt beauty blog (linked here) and these are my thoughts based on the experience.  :)

Travel sized tube.

I received the Clinique Deep Comfort Body Butter in a 75ml travel sized tube, rather than the standard 200ml tub it’s normally presented in, so I’m not going to comment on the packaging as such.  I will describe the front label, though, which resembles the original and identifies as ‘typically’ Clinique, with a simple arrangement of bold text displaying the brand name, along with the product title, printed in both English and French.  The ultra rich, thickly textured body cream has a whipped butter-like consistency that is an off-white colour or if I dare say, a pale yellow/light lemon shade.  It bestows very little fragrance; in fact the neutral scent is so subtle that I can barely smell anything at all, even when it’s directly under my nose.  :-<  While the nourishing formula is heavy and takes some time to absorb, I only need a small amount to adequately moisturise my whole body, hence a little goes a long way.  Thankfully, the full-bodied cream doesn’t create a greasy, sticky surface residual; instead, it soaks right in and my skin is immediately left silky smooth, soft, supple and intensely hydrated.  ;)

I have been applying this indulgent body butter on my sensitive skin, all over, every night, directly after showering and while still slightly damp.  The result is pure, calming relief, as it targets itchy, flaky areas and general dryness, nurturing and soothing my skin, alleviating redness and inflammation.  =D>  During this trial, I’ve truly experienced the remedial comfort this cream provides, determining the gentle emollient works wonders as a post hair removal treatment, allowing me to avoid the side effects I usually develop after shaving, such as angry, red skin.  Slathering the cream on afterward helps my skin to recover quickly, locking in long-lasting moisture and preventing the discomfort and irritability associated with shaving and hair removal.  <:-P

Although I think this body cream is effective and suitable for anyone who desires a deeply hydrating, formulation that is non-irritating and kind to skin, I believe it has a few cons to point out as well.  :-/  Despite my sensitive skin issues and the need to avoid artificial fragrances, I do have a weakness for deliciously scented body products, especially when they boast delectable, all-natural aromas, so I tend to find unscented lotions, like this one, dull and boring.  (:|  I also would prefer a moisturiser infused with sunscreen properties of at least SPF 15 or more to meet my daytime skin care needs, should I wish to use this in the morning as well; therefore, I’m only using it at night when I don’t require any additional UV protection.  B-)  Finally, it is on the expensive side  :-O  and I personally believe there are cheaper alternatives, which are equally good, if not better and delivering more benefits than just skin softening at a fraction of the price.  $-) I do like the therapeutic effect I’ve managed to achieve when using the Clinique Deep Comfort Body Butter and will continue enjoying this tube; however, I wouldn’t consider spending in excess of $50 to repurchase it again in the future.  /:)

Based on the pros and the cons, I am rating the Clinique Deep Comfort Body Butter with 3.5 Stars out 5,  (*)  (*)  (*)  & ½  (*) deducting ½ a star for each of the three negatives points I mentioned.

Elixia Daily Skin Smoothing Lotion

Howdy all,  :-h  I’m still with you here, but at this stage the majority of my posts are getting published on a monthly basis coz I’m still strapped to the eyeballs for time!  :-O  Anyway, always been a firm believer of the old saying ‘Better late than never’ so with that in mind, I’ll keep battling on to bring you as much as possible, if and when I can  ;)  This month I have some Elixia reviews, based on my experience as a member of the Trial Team for the number one Australian beauty website, Beauty Heaven, of which I've advocated for the past few years.  >:D< 

I was completely unfamiliar with the brand Elixia when Beauty Heaven first asked me to participate in this trial,  :-/  so I took the opportunity to do some online research and promptly ascertained that this Australian company produces premium skin care based on science and clinical development.  I was sent three products representative of their High Performance Anti-Ageing range, which is all natural and free of nasties, albeit infused with a potent blend of peptides, antioxidants and actives, including Vitamins A (retinol), C and E.  These supercharged ingredients hold the key to reversing prematurely aged skin and are exactly what I look for in my skin care, so it was my eager expectation that Elixia should compliment my current anti-ageing routine to perfection.  :D  The products are formulated using an exclusive, innovative technology called TPM (Targeted Penetration Matris) to help deliver the effective cocktail of ingredients deep into the epidermis for better execution, whereby enhancing the absorption and penetration by up to 4 times.

The Elixia Daily Skin Smoothing Lotion is presented in an attractive 30ml jar and decorated with silver and bold magenta panels that correspond accordingly throughout the range. Unlike a standard tub that requires the user to keep dipping fingers in and out of the contents; this unique pot features a dual-wall dispenser disc for the ultimate in hygiene.  This definitely impressed me, as I’m always complaining about ‘double dipping’ into my creams, a process that could easily contribute to the spread of bacteria.  :-S  Not to mention, this is the first time I’d even seen such practical packaging, with the modern approach utilising an airless design to protect the goodness of the natural ingredients and prolong the shelf life because the formulas don’t become susceptible to air degradation.  The user friendly design conveys controlled doses, so it’s effortless to extract as much or as little product as needed, simply by pressing gently on the disc to dispense a small amount and a heavier press releases more.  ;;)

The creamy textured lotion is a pale yellow colour and has a lightweight consistency with a subtle, citrus-like aroma.  It blends into my skin with ease and absorbs almost instantly, minus any tacky residue.  I have super oily skin that gets very greasy with many moisturisers, yet I didn’t see so much as a hint of shine on my skin, even hours after the initial application.  #:-S  I think I could even go as far as claiming that this treatment actually helps to balance my skin’s pH levels, therefore eliminating any excess oil production, because any greasiness has all but disappeared since I introduced Elixia to my skin.  It works wonders under my makeup, leaving my skin fresh and nourished throughout the day.  It doesn’t upset my sensitivity issues by provoking irritation or redness, nor does it clog my pores or trigger breakouts.  In fact, since I begun this regime, my skin has become exceptionally clear, with the odd spot now being few and far between.  It has even healed the stress related cystic acne that kept reoccurring on my face and neck earlier this year and there’s been no indication of another onslaught developing ever since.  This day cream also boasts natural sun blockers to protect against the harsh UV rays, therefore preventing further sun related damage and skin ageing.  This is a brilliant all-round moisturiser that is productively tackling a myriad of my skin existing concerns head on!  What more could I ask for?  Elixia has ALL my needs covered!  <:-P

It has a creamy texture

As anyone reading this will gather, I am amazed at how effective this moisturiser is, especially when used in conjunction with the night cream and eye cream from the same range.  In terms of results, not only is my skin looking clearer, smoother and free of pimples and excess oil, in just a month, I am already noticing the tone is a better clarity, the fine lines are softer and more relaxed in appearance and my skin looks extremely healthy and naturally radiant.  :)  I always struggle to find a daytime moisturiser that is not too rich, specifically when it contains such powerful ingredients and addresses my individual skin care needs, yet the Elixia Daily Skin Smoothing Lotion has literally bowled me over and I am excited at the prospect of possibly reducing the lines and wrinkles to a greater extent. :-SS  Regardless, I am still happy with the improvements I’ve achieved and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Elixia to anyone who takes their anti-ageing regime seriously, particularly if you’re partial to a natural skin care alternative that is on par, if not better than many professional lines currently available.  This lotion totally rocks!!!  \m/

Top 10 Award, What the???  :-/ That’s exactly what I thought when I heard I was nominated by not one but two of my fellow bloggers to participate in a blogging game of 'Tag, Your IT'!  Well I guess I am now IT, so it’s my turn to play!!  I feel quite honoured to have received the nomination really coz its super nice to be included in something like this, especially since my blog is so new and I am still taking baby steps while I learn the ropes.   ;;)  :)

Skinstitut L-Lactic Body Wash

I love this amazing AHA body wash because it keeps my skin in tip-top condition.  I never bothered to care too much for the skin on my body, but after investing in a quality body wash I soon discovered how beneficial it was.  Infused with Lactic Acid, a chemical exfoliant, this body wash gently sloughs away dead skin cells every time I wash.   It leaves my skin smoother, softer and more radiant.  It also keeps the hair follicles clear and unclogged so that I don’t develop any nasty ingrowns or rashes from shaving.

ASAP Daily Facial Cleanser

Everyone needs a decent cleanser and this is 'the one' for me.  I have already reviewed this cleanser in detail in my Cleansing post, however in just a few words:  This is my ‘Holy Grail’ cleanser; powerful enough to remove excess dirt, oil and any impurities from my skin, but gentle and kind enough for my sensitive skin.  A deep pore cleanser that keeps my pores free of gunk and keeps those pesky blackheads at bay.

Clarisonic Pro Sonic Cleansing System

This cleansing tool is a product I have also reviewed more thoroughly in my Cleansing post.  This little gizmo is the ‘Ant’s Pants’ of all beauty gadgets and is one that I would be reluctant to ever part with.  It compliments my anti-ageing skin care regime and provides me with a multitude of benefits, including a smoother, softer, exceptionally clearer complexion, just to name a few.

Retin-A 0.5% (Tretinoin)

I recently blogged all about this product in my VitaminTherapy – Topical Vitamin A post.  My ultimate skin care savior (yes another Holy Grail, LOL :)) )that stands heads above ALL other beauty treatments I have tried in the name of anti-ageing.  It’s a fraction of the price of its OTT (over the counter) cousins and is also heaps more potent.  This is the be all and end all in the war against skin ageing and as long as I have this product on my side, it’s a war I plan to win.      

Alpha-H Clear Skin Daily Hydrator Gel

A new found favourite! (Where has this moisturiser been all my life?? :P ) Reviewed in my Moisturising post recently, this gel spells perfection for my oily skin.  Finding a moisturiser that isn't so heavy it feels like its suffocating my skin or doesn’t sweat off in the heat is normally a nightmare for me.  This ultra lightweight gel is worth its weight in gold and is EVERYTHING I want in a daily moisturiser.  Oily skinned beauties rejoice!!!  \:D/

Dermalogica AGE Smart Renewal Lip Complex

This lip treatment might be expensive compared to other lip treatments but it is an investment into more youthful lips.  I adore the delectable sweet fruity scent that always tempts me to go back back for more.  It immediately nourishes my lips and leaves them soft, plump and shiny.  It has taken years off my pout and regular use ensures they stay younger and healthier.  My lips have never looked or felt better.

Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear SPF30+

I was tossing up if I should include this in my top 10 or not, since discovering recently that it in fact has a few nasties in the ingredients list :-O  However, despite the fact, I have never had any complaints since I started using it 3 years ago and in fact I have not found a better sun protection product than this. :) It is ideal for the tropical North Queensland summer, providing my skin with the highest level of sun protection in a multi-tasking formula that has good coverage (for a tinted moisturiser) and a nice colour with a matte finish. It doesn’t clog my pores and maintains adequate hydration as well.  I will always use this until something better comes along and to date I have just not found anything as good.

Styli-Style Line & Seal Eyeliner

I have a few of these because they are definitely the nicest coloured eyeliners I have personally used.  They are rich in colour and super vibrant on my waterline and the colour lasts for longer than most others do.  The pencils are incredibly soft and creamy allowing them to glide on with ease and they don’t smudge at all so they don’t wind up all over my face.  Available in a spectrum of colours, these eyeliners are extremely cheap and in my opinion much better than many other eyeliners that are twice the price.

OCC Lip Tar

These cute little tubes of highly pigmented lip colour are unique and innovative. It looks like gloss but it actually resembles something similar to paint for your lips.  I guess they are like paint in many ways, because you can mix the various shades together to create endless new hues so they are ideal if you have a creative spark.  While they might look like paint, the texture is in fact super lightweight and drenches my lips in opaque colour that stays put for hours, eventually creating a long lasting stain.  The tube might seem tiny, but believe me when I say one tube will probably last you an eternity, hehe. ;)) You need only a pin-sized amount per application…if that, haha. :)) A teeny weeny, itty bitty product that packs one enormous, almighty big punch!!

La-Tweez Pro Illuminating Tweezers

I can’t live without my tweezers, LOL. :)) These are probably the most used product in my whole beauty kit. ;) When I first saw these with the light I thought, here we go another gimmick, why on earth would you need a light?? 8-| BUT...after discovering just how much I was missing with normal tweezers I changed my opinion quick smart. :"> Not only is the light extremely helpful and makes a HUGE difference visibility wise, these tweezers also have awesome precision and can grasp onto even the finest little hairs so that nothing ever gets left behind.

So, there you have it!  That is my list for now, but we all know it will probably change again soon enough, LOL.  But, hey, that is just me and the joys of being an over obsessed product loving junkie, hehe.  ;))
