Pure Therapy by Purist - Daily Restore Face Moist

Hey there one more time peeps!  :-h   This will be the last post of this latest batch, so hope ya’ll don’t mind being bombarded overtime when I do get around to updating my blog each month.  :-@  ;)  I suffer from sensitive skin problems, making it randomly  prone to redness, itching and discomfort and when this occurs my normal moisturisers either aggravate the symptoms further, whilst specialty pharmaceutical products turns my already oily skin into a big greasy mess, causing blocked pores and triggering breakouts, or even worse strips my skins natural oils leaving it parched and uncomfortable . :(  Until now my only option is to avoid everything until the irritation subsides, but unfortunately neglecting my skin like that wipes out all the hard work I’ve put in maintaining a diligent skin care regime that targets my skin concerns, leaving me back at square one.  :-L   So, when Tammerly the brains (and beauty) behind Spoilt blog sent me out a moisturiser from a newly released label that is suitable for sensitive skin, I was keen to start the trial.  Here is my review based on that experience.  :)

Pure Therapy is a new range brought to us by The Purist Company, an Australian manufacturer of natural, safe and effective personal care products.  Purist is also the parent company the highly acclaimed A’kin Skincare and Alchemy Haircare brands.  Recommended by doctors and hospitals, the clinically proven Pure Therapy line-up, is free from parabens, sulphates, ethoxylated emulsifiers, artificial colours and animal derivatives.  >:D<  Pure Therapy Daily Restore Face Moist is infused with vitamins and botanicals, including colloidal oatmeal, which helps soothe and calm the skin and offers essential relief to sensitivity problems or symptoms like redness and irritation.  #:-S  The intensely moisturising formula improves the skins ability to retain moisture and strengthens the barrier function for long-lasting hydration, whilst creating a protective shield against dryness and external aggressors.  It provides immediate respite for vulnerable skin, leaving it feeling smooth, soft and supple.  The gentle blend is even suitable for those who suffer from Eczema, Psoriasis and Contact Dermatitis.  \:D/

Presented in a slimline, squeezable tube, the plainly packaged moisturiser doesn’t appear too fancy in the looks department, yet the simple design boasts an appropriate nature-inspired colour scheme, which is featured throughout the range and complimentary to the whole ‘pure’ concept. The tube has a grey oval twist-off lid that only needs one turn to open and remove and then simply reverse the action to close.  With that in mind, the lid doesn’t seem to secure firmly on the tube, therefore I wouldn’t suggest popping it in your bag during transit, or you might end up with a big fat mess, EEK!.   :-S

The Pure Therapy Daily Restore Face Moist is rich and emollient with a thick creamy texture. The pale yellow coloured moisturiser is velvety smooth and silky, but due to the density, I was initially concerned it was going to be too heavy or greasy and would be likely to cause congestion.  A pea-sized amount of cream is ample to spread onto my whole face and neck, absorbing well, like a drink for my thirsty skin.  It does leave a sticky/tacky residue once applied, but fortunately that dries quickly to then reveal softer, plumper-looking skin.  ;;)  The product claims to be fragrance free, however there is a distinct oatmeal smell that’s quite comforting, although the scent doesn’t linger once transferred to the skin.  The finish is semi-matte and slightly dewy, but has a lightweight, non-greasy feel that allows my skin to breathe and avoid clogged pores or breakouts.  During the day, my oily skin is usually prone to developing a midday shine, so powder and blotting papers are basically necessities.  Because this moisturiser has the staying power to last the distance and no greasiness, it makes a great base under makeup, and hence I can finally ditch those frequent touch-ups to mop up excess oil.  Instead, I am revelling in a shine-free complexion.  <:-P

I’ve been using the Pure Therapy Daily Restore Face Moist twice daily and have to admit, I’m totally smitten with the results.  :x   It has definitely exceeded my expectations and I’m thrilled that it’s affordable, readily available and it actually does work.  I can now confidently hydrate my skin without the fear that after a few hours, my face will start resembling something that hails from a deep fryer.  :D  In fact, since I started using this moisturiser, a month ago, I have noticed a considerable improvement in the natural pH of my skin, which is maintaining better balance, thereby reducing excess oil production.  Additionally, by alleviating any skin sensitivity issues as they occur, my skin tone has evened out, prompting a uniform complexion, so that facial redness and blotchiness are a thing of the past.  =D>  I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Pure Therapy Daily Restore Face Moist to anyone, especially sufferers of problem skin, who want a heavy-duty, healing and protecting cream that locks in moisture and alleviates discomfort.  The long lasting defence keeps skin resistant to external irritants, ensuring it remains calm, soft and fully replenished.  This quick-fix beauty aid is a handy addition to any skin care arsenal.  O:-)
I am awarding this moisturiser with 4.5 out of 5 stars, loosing only ½ a star because of the unsecure lid.  (*)  (*)  (*)  (*) & ½  (*)

Do you have sensitive skin issues and find choosing a moisturiser a bit of a dilemma?  :-/   Are you familiar with this range or have you tried any of the products from either of the other Purist line-ups?  :-?  Please feel free to share your experience!

Nivea Sensitive Protect Roll-on Deodorant

Welcome back beauties, the next product I have reviewed was sent to me by Beauty Heaven to test out as a part of their trial team,  here are my thoughts on that experience.  :)

The Nivea Sensitive Protect Roll-on Deodorant comes in stylish, upmarket-looking, 50ml transparent glass packaging with a roll-on dispenser and a white plastic screw on cap.  The label adorns the recognisable blue, white and gold Nivea logo, along with an attractive, lilac and silver colour scheme for a touch of femininity.  The ultra gentle, anti-inflammatory formulation is free of alcohol, preservatives and colourants, while enriched with nourishing avocado oil and chamomile extract to soothe and care for the most sensitive skin types.  It also claims to deliver effective protection against perspiration for 48 hours.  :D

The deodorant is white in colour, but transfers completely clear onto the skin with nil fragrance and a non-sticky finish.  :">  Instead, it provides additional hydrating properties to ensure the skin under my arms stays super soft and silky smooth.  \:D/  This time of the year it’s not overly humid and hot here, but even throughout the duration of these mildly warm FNQ days, I’m not satisfied that this deodorant is lasting the distance.  :-S  After applying the roll-on first thing in the morning, I find by lunch time, my underarms begin to feel a bit moist, so I feel the need for a second application to avoid getting BO.  /:)  In the past couple of weeks since I’ve began this trial, I have come to the conclusion that unfortunately the deodorant doesn’t meet my daytime anti-persipirant needs, yet it’s ideal for use at night, after showing, so I go to bed feeling fresh and comfortable and wake up of a morning still feeling much the same.  ;)  Because Nivea have formulated it to be totally non-irritating, it’s handy to use after hair removal, due to the no alcohol content it doesn’t burn or sting at all and helps to prevent rashes and reduce the chance of irritation.  (*)

Overall, I think the Nivea Sensitive Protect Roll-on Deodorant is an average deodorant in terms of performance; however, its kind to the skin, very affordable and readily available at most supermarkets and pharmacies nationwide, making it a budget friendly option.  =D>  I will continue using the deodorant both post shaving and as a part of my nightly body care routine, but I don’t think it has the durability to withstand the tropical far northern summer, so I doubt I would repurchase it myself.  For those with sensitive skin looking for a safe, skin loving alternative, this might be just what you’re looking for.  :-*

Do you get irritated by many commercial type deodorants and want one that won’t sting or upset your underarms?  :-/   Can you recommend a sensitive anti-perspirant that is both gentle and also particularly effective at combating BO??  :-?   Comment below with your favourite long-lasting deodorant!

Skinstitut L-Lactic Body Wash - The Secret to Stunning Sensitive Skin.

I never use to give my body the care and attention it deserves, well not to the same degree that I care for my face.  :-S  For most of my life, my poor old body was neglected and didn’t get pampered at all, other than being regularly cleansed with soap, EEK!   :-O  Soap, d’oh.... that is almost a dirty word these days,  #-o  yet, prior to converting to a body wash, soap was all I ever used.  :">  [-X   Years on, after discovering the remarkable benefits of incorporating AHA’s (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) into my body care regime, I have never looked back.  #:-S   I seriously doubt that I would ever manage to get through a tropical Far North Queensland summer again without my trusty AHA body wash.

Initially, when I was introduced to AHA’s, I was using a Glycolic Acid infused body wash, however because I am blessed with sensitive skin, at times, my skin gets all irritable, (usually after shaving) so I have to avoid Glycolic Acid coz it just exasperates the problem.  :-< I was recommended this Skinstitut L-Lactic Body Wash (featured previously  in my Top 10 Favourite Products) a couple of years ago, when it was first launched, by the Darren, one of the incredibly knowledgeable and extremely helpful skin care therapist’s from the Facial Company.  He suggested the gentle Lactic Acid based formula would be more friendly and appropriate for my temperamental skin type, so I checked it out and decided it might be exactly what I needed.  B-)

The good thing about Lactic Acid as apposed to Glycolic Acid is that Lactic Acid is naturally found in our skin anyway, so it’s suggested to be the most gentle of all AHA’s.  It is just as effective as the harsher Glycolic Acid when it comes to sloughing away dead, dulling skin cells and stimulating the natural cell turnover process. It also decongests pores and it helps increase the hydration levels of the skin to promote a firmer, smoother texture.  :)

As per its claims, I have found the Skinstitut L-Lactic Body Wash to be completely non-irritating, so even when my skin IS inflamed, I can still confidently cleanse my body, knowing it won’t aggravate the condition.  Surprisingly, it’s actually ideal for reducing the symptoms of angry, red skin and is evidently proposed as being suitable for even the most sensitive types.  It is certainly my best defense in avoiding the dreaded itchy, red rash, razor bumps and ingrown hairs that I would frequently experience, thereafter shaving my legs.  Blocked or obstructed hair follicles can wind up getting infected, hence these problems arise,  :-L  however, with regular use of an exfoliating body wash, my pores and hair follicles are kept clear and unrestricted to allow the regrowth to come through easily, avoiding any irritation.  =D>

The body wash dispensed straight from the bottle
Another bonus is that the addition of AHA’s to the normal cleansing routine, will annihilate the rotten summer sweat pimples, (belonging to the acne vulgaris family) often referred to as ‘bacne’, which usually appears on the back, upper arms and buttocks.  :-/   These zits or pimples, (which tend to resemble mini volcanos at times  :(  ) unfortunately, breakout over the body during the hotter, more humid months of the year as our sweat glands become more overactive.  ~X(   Washing with the Skinstitut L-Lactic Body Wash helps clean the pores of any dead skin, oil or bacteria that clog up in the pores when we sweat.  Therefore, as a result, these pimples are no more!   \:D/

I also find the price amazing, at only $36 for a whopping 375ml.  It’s presented in a pump-action bottle featuring the typical Skinstitut packaging, with the white, purple and silver/pewter design and logo.  It is a clear, amber coloured, gel-based formulation with a runny fluid-like consistency.  I am ultra partial to the lovely fresh, clean, mildly citrus scent that is ever so delicate and not at all offensive.  :x  Just one pump of the liquid distributed onto my shower puff is ample to work into a rich, luxurious lather that will wash and exfoliate my entire body with no effort at all. ;)

Lathers into a rich, creamy foam when used with my shower puff
It rinses off easily without leaving any greasy residue.  Instantly, my skin feels super smooth and soft like silk to touch.  It’s totally non-drying, delivering extra moisture to my skin, leaving it adequately hydrated and perfectly balanced for optimum skin health.  Since I started washing with the Skinstitut L-Lactic Body Wash, my skin has taken on a naturally radiant, healthy-looking glow, which makes a nice change to its previously dull, sallow, often scaly appearance.  :D

This is the first, and only, Lactic Acid body wash I have experienced myself and In my opinion I highly doubt if there were similar products available, I would find a better, more affordable treatment body wash than this.  I would say it's supreme; absolutely flawless.  (*)  I basically use it every other day or on a daily basis during the warmer months when I need to shower at least twice a day, sometimes more.  I would highly recommend it, especially for anyone with sensitive skin issues that wants to indulge in the benefits of a using a chemical body exfoliator but generally finds most AHA products are too harsh and end up upsetting your skin.  Well, you needn't miss out on the positives any more, the Skinstitut L-Lactic Body Wash is the answer to all your prayers.  [-O<   Woot, Woot, Sensitive Skinned Beauties Rejoice!!!   <:-P  <:-P
