At first, I thought this was blush, oops!  :">  umm, well it’s the rouge part that gets me every time, I always though rouge was a cosmetic used to colour the cheeks and emphasise the cheekbones, but I’ve actually spotted numerous lippies with rouge in the title as well…..confusing much!  :-/   For the record, rouge is actually French for the colour red, so in this case we are talking red lippies. 

I actually have a huge limited edition NP lip palette and it’s impressive so I knew this one wouldn’t disappoint.  What is different about this duo is that it incorporates a smooth, creamy, semi-matte lipstick infused with vitamin E and Carnauba Wax, alongside a unique mattifying lip powder to boost staying power and a pair of application brushes.  This palette, said to be inspired by Old Hollywood film icons, results in a red, velvety, full-bodied pout that will not budge.  I’ve never tried a lip powder before now and I think it’s pretty genius. *-:)  Just loving this whole concept ATM  :x  and would be keen to see it developed with a range of other colours too :)

Alpha-H Daily Essential Moisturiser SPF 30+

This is an old faithful of mine that I regularly use, particularly in summer because it’s ideal underneath makeup.  It’s a multi-tasking trifecta that combines a moisturiser, antioxidant and sunscreen, which boasts five, non-nano, broad-spectrum protection filters that absorb both UVA and UVB rays like a force field, before they can cause any damage.  The skin preserving antioxidants are beneficial in the fight against premature skin ageing and may reduce the risk of certain sun cancers. What’s more, it is water resistant for up to four hours, so I can enjoy water activities, like swimming, without worrying that my skin is exposed.  I have previously provided a complete review of this product in my Sun Protection Staring Oily Skin blog post back in August.  (*)

ASAP Daily Exfoliating Facial Scrub (Mini 50ml)

I am a huge fan of the cleanser in this range, which like this scrub is formulated with AHA’s for a deep pore clean.  I have been using this reliable cleanser for the past few years on a regular basis, already sharing the experience in my Cleansing post last July.  I oddly enough, have not yet tried this scrub, mostly because I am not a big fan of scrubby exfoliators anyway, thus I basically feel that I am getting the benefits of chemical exfoliation with the cleanser anyway, therefore couldn’t justify needing the additional scrub. 

I imagine that it will provide all of the wonderful advantages of chemical exfoliation, along with some extra oomph enhanced by the exfoliating beads.  I love that ASAP is an Australian professional, yet simple and affordable cosmeceutical skin care range that adopts potent active ingredients that provide super effective, visible results in a gentle, non-irritating formula suitable for all skin types.  I will definitely test drive this exfoliator and will review it at a later stage.  Ideally, this scrub is available in the small 50ml tube as well as it’s larger 250ml counterpart to give consumers the chance to try before they commit to buying the full-sized product.

Clarins Moisture Rich Body Lotion (Mini 30ml)

I initially first tried this when I received it in conjunction with an order I placed at the Facial Company, who always delight and tempt me with their lavish free samples that always accompany all orders.  I have since purchased a full-size tube as these days I have come a long way from my earlier years where my body and skin care were never recognised in the same sentence and was neglected accordingly.  Now I consider my body skin care just as important as my face and moisturising my damp skin immediately after showering daily is essential for keeping my body in tiptop shape. 

Despite the title, I would definitely classify this moisturiser as a cream rather than a lotion because it’s extremely rich and nourishing with a thick texture.  All the while, as hydrating as it is, the cream absorbs almost instantly with no greasy residue and my skin is left feeling silky smooth and supple in appearance.  It works a charm to replenish dry patches and the results are long lasting.  It’s quite heavily fragranced but it’s a natural, pleasant scent that tantalises the senses and doesn’t tend to linger around after application.  It’s definitely a work-horse, which makes it an ideal moisturiser for year round body skin care. 

Clarins Tonic Bath & Shower Concentrate (Mini 50ml)

I am yet to try this bath and shower treat, but one whiff of the aroma from the bottle and I am already sold, hehe!  . ;))   I am a sucker for yummy smelling bath and shower products and this is right up there with the best of them.  :x  This would be ideal to use first thing in the morning to lift the spirits and provide an instant 'pick-me-up' with it’s invigorating, enlivening oriental fragrance.  On the same token it would also be perfect after a long, tiring day when you want to kick back in the bath to relax and unwind. It is a gel-based formula enriched with essential oils and features another special quality, which is it’s ability to help tone and firm the body skin.  Sounds perfect to me, I will keep you posted on my thoughts after I give it a good work out ;) 

Esthederm Cellular Water Spray (Mini 35ml)

I first purchased a tin of this spray a few years ago and it is without a doubt my favourite facial mist of all time.  :x  I personally love how Esthederm has zoned in on the concept that our skin needs to have sufficient water or it will become dehydrated, feel tighter, loose elasticity and generally age faster. Their Cellular Water is the first and only replica of our very own skin's water, which is ferried deep into the layers of our skin to maintain hydration, which helps delay the ageing process.

This particular spray has an aerosol delivery system that provides just the right amount of fine mist to refresh my face anytime, anywhere.  I keep this in my handbag to freshen up constantly whenever my skin is feeling dull or dry, especially in summertime.  It saves my face from suffering dehydration caused from being in and out of air-conditioning along with our naturally drying humid climate.  The spray itself is extremely lightweight and airy but also highly effective. It disappears instantly into my skin and leaves no remnants at all; instead, my skin is just very refreshed and fully energised. =D>

Water Spray, AOX, Power Rich

I also suffer from skin sensitivity and often reach straight for this spray to provide instant soothing relief from irritation or inflammation.  Packed full of minerals that are also good for our skin this spray is beneficial to restore pH balance and protect against external pollutions and free radical damage.  Another use for this wonderful multi-tasking spray is that it is perfect to set my mineral makeup.  Because I have oily skin, I find using it as a setting spray keeps my makeup in place for longer and helps to keep my skin matte throughout the day.  Oh and it has even more purposes too!  Its really handy to use as a toner when I am in a hurry and need to get through my usual skin care steps faster than normal or on those days when my skin is oilier than normal it hydrates my skin without needing to apply a cream or lotion into the mix.  :D

This facial mist has become a staple in my skin care ritual pretty much all year around, but with summer bearing down on us I am needing (and wanting of course) to use it more than ever.  I can always be sure it will leave my skin hydrated, provides a boost of much needed moisture whenever the need arises. Over time, with continued use, it could also help me fight off those early signs of ageing to keep my skin looking younger for longer. Until then however, I am more than satisfied with its immediate results and promise to anyone that it will surely keep your skin feeling enriched and alive throughout our long, hot Australian summer conditions.  :D

Dermalogica AGE Smart Power Rich (10ml Sample)

I have personally tried a ridiculously large array of Dermalogica products, although due to the expensive $305 RRP price tag that embellishes this skin treatment, I have never even considered using it myself.  :-O  Although, like everything in the Dermalogica professional skin care range, I expect this product to be highly effective with a potent blend of active ingredients, vitamins and botanicals to assist in complete skin renewal.  I’m confident that with frequent use it will proclaim a positive advancement in the repair and improved overall condition of damaged, prematurely aged skin that over time will lead to optimal skin health and eventually promote a more youthful appearance.

This deluxe sample offer is actually very generous from Dermalogica, considering the retail cost is for 50ml worth of product, a sample of this size is valued at an unbelievable $61  $-)  I have always wanted to try this product and am thrilled to finally have the chance.  I will review my experience and share it with you all further down the track.  Even f it exceeds my expectations, I doubt I will be in the market to invest in such a high-end, luxury anti-ageing skin care treatment any time soon, but I am sure I will feel a million bucks just trying it ;)

Payot AOX  (4 ml Sample)

Speaking of expensive luxury skin performers, this product exclusively from leading French skin care company Payot, tops the previous product with a steep $362.50 price tag for a mere 50 ml product.  :-O  :-O  Price tag aside, this advanced, highly concentrated anti-ageing product boasts completely different ingredients than other comparable costly skin care treatments; however, at the end of the day it targets the same concerns and advocates itself as a super cream/serum that is the ultimate in anti-ageing care.  While I can’t expect to discover anything miraculous with a small 4ml sample, I’m still going to indulge in a bit of extravagance to see what it feels like to use something so lavish it’s more than likely fit for a King or Queen.   

Burt's Bees Radiance Night Creme with Royal Jelly  (Mini 7gm tub)

I already have this in a full-size version that I received from Burt’s Bees Australia as part of their Radiance Trial Team last year.  Here is my review of this night cream from that range.  This night cream features the signature sweet and fruity fragrance that is typical throughout this entire range. I am not fond of the scent unfortunately and it seems to be noticeably prominent in this night cream when I first apply it to my face.  While I am not impressed with the scent, I have continued using this night cream as I wanted to fully experience the benefits of all the botanical ingredients, along with vitamins, minerals and the hero ingredient in the range, royal jelly, to see if it would make my skin more radiant, as per its claims.

The night cream comes in a large sized glass pot/tub and the cream itself is a thick, buter-like, creamy consistency, that is ultra rich and fairly heavy in texture on my oily skin.  I don’t mind using products that are a bit richer or take longer to soak into my skin at night, as it doesn’t matter if my skin looks a bit shiny when I am sleeping.  As long as it is benefiting from the goodness of the ingredients, I can live with the nighttime shine.  The cream feels super soothing and cooling on my skin, as it nourishes my face and neck, allowing the powerful ingredients to penetrate within and get to work during the night shift. Keep in mind, all this is happening while I am catching up on my much needed Zzz’s.   I-)  When I wake in the morning, I can still feel the cream coating my face, which is a slight bit oily but thankfully nothing extreme.  #:-S  I can instantly recognise that the texture is so much softer and smoother, while my skin tone looks more even, with none of the usual evident signs of flushing and redness I tend to experience occasionally.  Any of the excess residue from the night cream washes straight off with my morning cleanse, so it isn’t cause for concern. #:-S

Other than the overbearing scent, this fades out eventually, this night crème targets my skin concerns head on. After just a few weeks, I could notice my skin becoming plumper and firmer, which helps disguise any fine lines, leaving my skin with a natural, youthful glow.  My skin tone has improved heaps, that being the most obvious change noticeable to my naked eye, as well as the decrease of excess oil production, resulting in less congestion and fewer breakouts. My complexion looks rejuvenated and is surprisingly brighter, healthier and more youthful.  It’s such a fantastic range that totally exceeded my expectations and if it weren’t for the funny smell it could have possibly won a permanent home in my skin care ritual.  An unscented version would be excellent!!!  ;)

Hand Cream, Bath Crystals, Night Cream

Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Crème  (Mini 7g tub)

I have tried this Hand Cream in a sample before and like all Burt’s Bees hand cream’s I can’t rave about them enough.  I like the fact that it is actually more of a thick, waxy balm than a cream, which envelopes my hands in a protective shield that completely nourishes and cares for my particularly dry, overworked hands as it attempts to soften and rejuvenate the neglected skin, repairing damaged cuticles.  Because it’s so rich and on the heavy side, this is probably the most hydrating hand cream I have ever used and helps make for silky soft skin with a younger-looking appearance.   

Whilst I do love everything about this ‘super balm’ it is still actually my least favourite of the Burt’s Bees hand creams!  #-o   because I am sensitive to certain fragrances and I’m not overly fussed on the somewhat fake perfume scent this strongly concedes.  Some of the other versions are far more delectable, whereas this one is so strongly scented; it smells like a sickly sweet aniseed that is quite artificial, instead of natural, as it should be.  I also don’t find any resemblance to almonds in the aroma, if it did I wouldn’t mind it at all, but this is just not it at all!!!  /:) Overall though, I would only deduct one point for the overbearing smell, the rest of the product, I dare say is near perfect and exactly what I look for in a hand cream     

 

Burt's Bees Therapeutic Bath Crystals (44gm sachet)

I’ve not seen or tried this one before now, but I am positive it will be very well received and I can’t wait to get the bathroom to myself so I can create my own little pampering retreat.  There is nothing better than a soak in the tub with some bath salts to help detox and tone the skin, relieve sore, tired muscles, .promote a restful sleep and reduce stress, while leaving your skin silky soft and incredibly smooth. The addition of essential oils such as eucalyptus and lemon are extremely invigorating and refreshing for the skin.  These salts will be so beneficial for those times when I need to melt all those cares away, ahh  >:D<   pure relaxation.  I’ll get around to reviewing this product in full further down the track after I get the chance to check it out for myself  ;)

Recipe - De-Stress for Less

This was my entry into the recent Beauty Heaven Blogstar competition.  It didn’t win me any awards, :-<  LOL!  :))  But, I did enjoy re-living my relaxing experience as I was working on this post and also the topic is completely different to any of my previous blogs, so all in all I had fun stepping out of my comfort zone and running around naked....(well, not quite, hehe! ;)) but you know what I mean ;)  )

As a WAHM rearing two hardheads (rug rats/toddlers), days off are scarce and ‘me’ time is a rare amenity. Last weekend, the youngsters stayed overnight at their grandparents, leaving me home alone with a hunger for some long-awaited pampering. I cooked myself the ‘order of the day’, to tantalise my senses, before serving up a welcoming slice of repose!

Ingredients:

Scented Candle

Epsom Salts/Baking Soda

Aromatherapy Oils

Body Wash/Scrub

Shampoo/Conditioner/Treatment Mask

Cleanser/Cleansing Devise

Facial Mask

Body Moisturiser

Foot Lotion

Cotton Socks

Hand Cream

Lip Balm

Method:

1. In the bathroom, create sensual aroma and atmosphere with a calming Scented Candle, transitioning you from tense to tranquil and evoking a serene, peaceful ambiance. 

I used:  Ecoya Soy Wax Candle Everyday Tin in French Pear.

2. Run a luxury-healing bath, infused with Epsom Salts and Baking Soda to flush toxins and relieve tired, overworked muscles. Assist the detox by adding Aromatherapy Oils. Soak your cares away, stimulating circulation, easing tension and reducing stress for improved well-being. 

I used:  Nat. Aroma Innerpeace Blend.

3. Bathe your body using an ambrosial Body Wash.  

I used:  Dove Triple Moisturising Body Wash.  

Slough away dead skin cells and restore the smooth factor with a deep cleansing, exfoliating Body Scrub. 

I used:  Crabtree & Evelyn Aromatherapy Distillations Cleansing Body Polisher.  

A Pumice Stone softens rough areas on your heels and toes.

4. Use a luscious Shampoo and Conditioner to achieve smooth, soft locks, which smell fabulous.  

I used:  MooGoo Milk Shampoo and Cream Conditioner.  

Boost your tresses with a Treatment Mask, promoting moisture, strength and flexibility.  

I used:  Al'chemy Ginkgo & Jojoba Intense Moisture Vitamin Masque.

5. Cleanse your face to purify the skin and target individual concerns.

I used:  Ultraceuticals Ultra Milk Cleanser.   

Implement a complimentary Cleansing Device that enhances your cleanser, prompting a thorough, deep–pore clean and optimal skin health.  

I used:  Clarisonic PRO Sonic Skin Cleansing System.

6. Apply an embellishing Facial Mask to balance, comfort and repair skin, whilst eliminating impurities. Kick back, chill out and drift away restfully, as it performs its magic. 

I used:  Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque.

7. After the indulgent bath, massage a rich, replenishing Body Moisturiser into damp skin, encouraging better absorption, keeping moisture locked in.  

I used:  ASAP Revitalising Bodymoist.  

Treat your feet and soothe your soles with a mint-enriched Foot Lotion that refreshes skin and increases circulation. 

I used:  Burt’s Bees Peppermint Foot Lotion.  

Slipping on Cotton Socks encourages fancy feet, plus keeps them sweet. 

8. Complete your regular facial care regime, before nurturing your hands with a succulent, remedial Hand Cream. 

I used:  Alpha-H Age Delay Hand and Cuticle Cream.  

Finally, extend the TLC to your kissers, with a slick of nourishing Lip Balm.

Sun Protection - Staring ‘Oily Skin’

Hi there my peeps, after the mayhem of the past few weeks, due to an overloaded personal/professional life, I am back on track, so its about time I get my butt into gear and finish off what I started here. :-w  I am referring to my personalised skin care products, which coincides with my Serious Skin Care program, giving y’all a rundown on the secret weapons I use regularly, to maintain my ultimate anti-ageing skin care regime.  So far, I have covered  the basic three-step skin care routine of Cleansing, Toning and Moisturising, followed by Vitamin Therapy – Topical Vitamin A and C, so now I am moving onto a subject that I have developed a love/hate relationship with over the years, Sun Protection.  Yep, finding an effective sunscreen has always been a challenge, because most formulations are too rich and heavy, causing a greasy, shiny mess, which is that oily in fact, you could fry and egg on it, EEK!  :-S  That much excess oil causes sunscreen to pretty much slide straight off, rather than staying put to perfect the job at hand.  Not to mention, mismatched sunscreens also lead to congestion, generating breakouts or even worse provoking irritations and unsightly rashes.  :|  Trying to attempt wearing makeup in conjunction with the unsuitable sunscreens was an even bigger nightmare, because after a couple of hours (if that) not only would I lose the sunscreen, I also had to kiss my makeup goodbye as well. ~X(   Arghhh, Not Happy Jan! LOL ;)

These days, though, I have finally nailed my ideal sun protection products that compliment and support my oily complexion, instead of always enduring the former disappearing act that defeated the purpose of using sunscreen the first place.  I thought those side effects would always be part and parcel of safeguarding my oily skin. :-<  Wrong, after deciding that enough was enough and I didn’t want to persevere with looking like I belong in the deep fryer any longer, research led me to a greater knowledge of products that might accommodate my oily skin; what a relief I was finally on the right track.  #:-S   Naturally, like with any skin care product, it all comes down to trial and error and I have tried my fair share of sunscreens that claim to be fitting for oily skin, yet within hours an onset of the ghastly slick would surface, noooooo!   :(  Still to this day, I can count on less than 10 fingers, the number of sunscreen products I have tried that actually work and work well, minus the grungy onslaught I use to dread.  Here are the progressive products I am referring to, the ones that work, which I regularly use, as well as those that perform unchallenged and unrivaled, beyond conviction; I know I can rely on any of these SPF products to satisfy my oily skin needs. (*) 

Alpha-H Daily Essential Moisturiser SPF30+

This is different to any other SPF moisturiser I have tried, EVER!  So, what is different about this one?  Lots, it’s lightweight, non-whitening, water resistant, touch dry and ultra sweat resistant. With the extreme humidity, here in Far North Qld, I always battle with sunscreens sweating off, well not anymore! Phew  #:-S  This one actually stays put and I love that it comes in a low irritant, non-greasy formula that doesn’t seem to clog my pores or contribute to any breakouts.  While my sun protection preference is usually zinc, with its physical barrier, unfortunately the options are limited when it comes to finding a decent, formula, developed into a light enough cream for daily use underneath makeup.  I normally avoid chemical sunscreens, because they bring back memories of nothing but grief; however, I was surprised to find this chemical version is so complimentary and kind to my skin, that all reservations aside, I have instead, embraced its efficacy.  >:D<

I have been using the Alpha-H Daily Essential Moisturiser SPF30+ since it was first released, on a regular basis and I am impressed with its incredible staying power. My face is indefinitely matte after application and remains like that for the duration of the day, without any sign of that pesky shine.  Presented in a handy pump bottle, just two small squirts, delivers enough weightless, creamy fluid to evenly cover my entire face and neck. It blends well and melts away to nothing within seconds, leaving my face prepped, adequately protected and ready for my makeup application.  Overall, this is one of the best sun protection products I have tried that addresses oily skin, in addition to ALL of my regular skin concerns as well, without any notable cons. =D>  (Other than my own conscience reminding me that it’s still a chemical sunscreen, @-)  LOL).

I even find the title is very fitting too, as it has become a ‘Daily Essential’ step in my skincare regime.  When Alpha-H developed this SPF moisturiser, I am sure they specifically knew all about my skin care woes, haha  :)) It targets each of my individual sunscreen dilemmas, whilst it also represents and acknowledges an awareness of our humid weather conditions, conformed with its unique ‘Australian friendly’ formulation.  I have never found an SPF moisturiser with the unsurpassed qualities of the Alpha-H Daily Essential Moisturiser SPF30+, which literally runs rings around its competitors with performance capabilities alone.  I rate it as a 4 ½ star creation out of 5, which only loses the ½ star because it’s not a physical sunscreen (See there I go again, damned integrity, =)) ROFL).  Maybe I might drop a hint to Alpha-H, claiming I would love them forever if they could possibly unite the superior advantages of a physical. zinc-based sunscreen, with the competence of the Alpha-H Daily Essential Moisturiser SPF30+'s unique, breakthrough formula, to cater for us chemical sunscreen snobs, haha. >:/   Honestly though, at the end of the day, I am thankful for such an awesome SPF moisturiser that is a pleasure to use, which exceeded my expectations, ten fold, despite my initial reluctance and scepticism.  :)>-

Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear SPF30+

Until about 12 months ago, this WAS my ‘Holy Grail’ sun protection product.  What’s changed? Well as I pointed out in my Top 10 Award post, I found out that my ‘be all and end all’ was in fact somewhat of a fraud. :-O  Initially, I was extremely disappointed and as a consumer, I felt deceived and misled, no thanks to the deluding information available on the brand website and product packaging, giving the impression that it’s an all natural blend, with 18% zinc oxide minerals, along with two preservatives. :-L  There is nothing ANYWHERE on the packaging or website suggesting that it has any other ingredients infused in the formulation, whereas other declarations presented in capital letters, stating ‘No Chemical Absorbers’ for example, are blatantly obvious for all to see.  I would imaging that to the average 'Jo Blow', a statement of that nature would have them assuming, it’s a natural product without harmful ingredients, like chemicals etc on board, just mineral zinc and a pair of preservatives, that is it.  :-??  

The packaging details.

It bugs the life out of me, when I come across, company after company, resorting to the clever use of crafty wording and purposely withholding the factual product details when advertising their brands.  This kind of marketing, always gives me a hunch that they are intentionally misrepresenting the truth. [-X  Due to such loose labelling regulations, here in Australia, it’s not a requirement for certain products, such as sunscreens, to disclose ALL of their ingredients.  Therefore, as consumers, we are often none the wiser. :-/  In other countries, these regulations are much tighter, so if the companies in question wish to sell their products abroad they DO have to comply with those particular countries laws.  In this case, after a bit of online probing I soon found the entire list of Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear SPF30+ ingredients, confirming the earlier allegations that I had learned about.  Considering there is over a dozen OTHER ingredients, most of those I can’t even pronounce, certainly validates their marketing tactics are not aimed at raising consumer awareness. [-(  It’s just the opposite, the joke is on us, the oblivious consumers who are frequently sucked in, time and time again, being wrongfully fooled by this untoward, yet common form of deception.  L-)

This discovery was the pits to be honest and for a while, I actually boycotted the product all together, refusing to touch it. :-t  Mostly because I felt used, abused and feeling the fool. :">  Over the following month or so, I conducted numerous internet searches, trying to find an alternative, void of nasties, but had little success; much to my dismay, there are very few unsuspecting, trustworthy, zinc-based sunscreens around.  Anyhow, in time I eventually returned to my ‘old faithful’ after coming to terms with the reality that I had never actually experienced any complaints at all, when I used the product. *-:)  One would think that a 3-year period would be sufficient to determine any problems, which would have surely reared their ugly head, if that were the case.  However, I didn’t experience anything even remotely negative, in terms of side effects.  Additionally, if I were none the wiser to the information uncovered, I would have continued on my merry way, singing its praise, as I always did.  With that said, an old saying came to mind, ‘If it ain't broke, don't fix it!’  Well, bearing in mind that I was impressed with the results I had previously achieved using Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear SPF30+ and without a worthwhile replacement in sight, I had to take it or leave it.  I opted for the latter.  [-O<  Due to it’s physical zinc-based properties, it still remains my sunscreen of choice.  Because it sits on top of my skin reflecting any harmful rays before they cause any damage, which unlike chemical sunscreens, that enter into your skin, there is less chance of developing any conflicts like allergies and irritations that are sometimes associated with chemical penetration.  It is also a known fact that Zinc Oxide offers the best of both UVA and UVB protection, so it made sense to stick with it, especially for occasions where I was exposed to direct sunlight, i.e. a day at the beach.  B-)

Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear SPF30+ has remarkable coverage for a tinted moisturiser and it doesn’t cause my oily skin to develop into a grease ball after a few hours.  It’s a multi-tasker, combination tinted moisturiser/sunscreen providing a natural tint with a matte-like finish with additional anti-ageing benefits. Despite claims that it contains pore-clogging ingredients, I have never suffered from congestion and like how it keeps my skin nourished with increased hydration.  Finding such a decent tinted moisturiser that harmonised with my skin, empowered me, for the first time in my life, to scrap my full coverage foundation during the day (something I would have never dreamed of doing before, it's like being naked :-O LOL).  I can instead, apply the Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear SPF30+ with a bit of concealer and a light dusting of translucent powder and be confident that my imperfections are disguised, without the need for loads of makeup.  Furthermore, the frequent application of topical zinc to my skin, has over time, improved the overall condition of my skin, preventing the onset of pimples and breakouts, leaving my complexion healthy and clear. :)

The formula, while very thick, takes some getting use to, but its actually rather lightweight, non-greasy and is easy to spread and blend, remembering that you don’t need much.  Begin with a small pea-sized amount, adding more as required until you achieve your desired, natural-looking effect.  The thick texture contributes to a slightly tacky feel for the first couple of minutes, but setting it with a powder helps to accomplish a flawless, shine-free finish, minus the ghostly white cast often left by certain sunscreens.  It’s a perfect solution to contend the conditions of our humid, tropical climate and even on the hottest summer days I can use it of a morning and know it’s not going to budge at all. ;)  Because of the impeccable staying power, it can often be difficult to remove with a normal cleanser, so based on my own experience I have determined that either an oil-based cleanser to break it down or a deep pore cleanser, such as an AHA formulation will dispel the normally stubborn remnants with ease.  The most important acknowledgement though, is that I have never sustained even a touch of sunburn, since introducing the Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear SPF30+, to my daytime routine.  It really does impart the ultimate barrier between my skin and the sun to safeguard against its damaging UV rays.  =D>  I am the first to admit I am not thrilled about the realisation of the included hidden nasties, after I already had developed a love affair with the product. =((  For now though, I am comfortable enough to keep plugging on with it until a better option comes along. :)  If anyone can suggest a decent zinc-based sunscreen, I would love to hear about it.

It combats dehydration and delivers a superb matte finish.

Kosmea Moisturising Lotion SPF30+ - This lightly textured, delicately scented, oil-free moisturiser has excellent sun protection properties incorporating both physical and chemical technology, targeting prematurely ageing skin to promote a healthy, youthful complexion.  Featuring some super beneficial all natural ingredients, and no nasties, it’s everything like a gorgeous nourishing lotion and nothing like a sunscreen.

Burts Bees Radiance Day Lotion SPF30+  - Infused with a subtle, sweet fruity fragrance the lightweight, ultra delicate, cream absorbs super fast with no greasy residue. The airy texture provides a matte finish and it remains shine-free all day, while the natural ingredients enhance the skins radiance and rejuvenate the complexion. It offers an adequate chemical and physical combination sun protection in a non-typical sunscreen formula that doesn’t leave a white cast on the skin.

Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser SPF20 – This is a tinted moisturiser with a difference, providing super staying power and a fresh, dewy finish in a non-greasy formulation. It has a thick foundation-like texture, but blends with ease to achieve a the fullest sheer coverage tinted moisturiser I’ve ever seen, which is also buildable for extra concealment of any stubborn imperfections, ensuring an evenly toned, healthy, natural looking complexion. The one downfall is that I wouldn’t be inclined to reply it as my sole sun protection product because the chemical sunscreens, unfortunately don’t offer broad spectrum protection, so I like to use it in conjunction with another form of protection.

Mukti Botanicals Tinted Moisturiser SPF15 – This non-nano, chemical-free, zinc-based tinted moisturiser offers decent physical protection, in an all-natural formula, that instantly sparked my attention.  It has a slightly herbal aroma and the texture, whilst thin and lightweight, is probably slightly too rich for my oily skin, due to the enticing blend of nourishing ingredients, which tends to get a bit shiny during the day. My other dilemma is the coverage is basically nada, it’s so sheer it’s invisible, therefore makes for a great base, preferably under a dusting of mineral powder foundation. Unfortunately, it doesn’t hide my flaws or even out my skin tone, so I dare not use it alone without the security of at least some extra cover.  10/10 for coming real close to the physical protection solution I am looking for.  ;)

Philosophy Supernatural Oil-Free Tinted Foundation PrimerSPF 15 – This primer literally blew me away, it totally exceeded my expectations, as never have I tried a tinted primer, much less one that also has the benefits of broad spectrum chemical and physical sun protection properties.  It’s silky smooth in texture with added silicones that magically transform my complexion, evening the tone and hiding the imperfections for a flawless finish. My skin looks amazing BEFORE I have even applied any foundation. It keeps my makeup in place and looking matte all day, definitely the best primer I have tried to date. :x  I am sceptical on the effectiveness of the SPF, however, so if heading outdoors I just apply additional sun protection to be certain.

Whoa, :-" that was one heck of a mouthful if I do say so myself, LOL. :)) Nevertheless, if you think about it, that is only eight sun protection products that I highly regard as worthy of recommendation to my fellow oily skinned sisters.  Over the duration of my thirty odd years, I constantly searched for a pertinent safeguard, in alliance with the ongoing Aussie health campaign I evolved with, 'Slip, Slop, Slap'.  Yet pinpointing the right sunscreen was never an easy feat, for someone with oily skin.  I learned quick smart that oily skin and sunscreen do not readily unite.  One fail would usually lead to another and then another and so forth, so having established eight amazing sun protectors that DO synthesise in accordance with my oily complexion is quite an achievement for me, hehe.  ;)) Seriously, you probably won’t believe this, but it has only been during the past four years or so that I have established every one of my SPF staples, when I finally got my skin professionally analysed and was educated about products and ingredients that compliment my skin type.  Prior to that, I was constantly at war with my skin, due to misuse of incompatible skin care products, so slapping on any old sunscreen didn’t do me any justice, and needless to say none of the products from the past three decades are still with me today, haha.  :))  Do you have problems finding a sunscreen product, which is compatible with your skin type?  Do you have any favourites you might care to share?  Hit me with your suggestions, I’m all ears.  :)
